Bali, 1 October 2017 – Three thousand and seven hundred runners are ready to enjoy the sensation of running at the Bali Mandala Toll road at Bali Run 2017. This event is a proof of BCA’s commitment in support of healthy lifestyle in Indonesia through various sports activities. BCA sponsored the BCA Bali Run 2017, which initiated by the Indonesia Tourism Development Corporate (ITDC) and Jasamarga Bali Tol (JBT), as well as DuniaLari.com as the Race Management.
Attending the BCA Bali Run 2017 was Director of BCA Suwignyo Budiman, Director of BCA Rudy Susanto, Director of BCA Lianawaty Suwono, Head of BCA Regional Office IV BCA Frengky Chandra Kusuma, Director of Indonesia Tourism Development Corporate (ITDC) Abdulbar M. Mansoer, and Director of Jasa Marga Bali Tol Akhmad Tito Karim, and Head of Bank Indonesia Representative Bali Causa Iman Karana in Nusa Dua, Bali, Sunday (01/10). With the theme “Run Across the Sea”, the BCA Bali Run 2017 became the first race to ever be held on Bali Mandara Toll road, stretches 12.7 kilometers and connects Benoa, Ngurah Rai International Airport and Nusa Dua.
Director of BCA Suwignyo Budiman said that the BCA Bali Run 2017 was held in order to lift tourism potentials in Bali. “Running and marathon is a relatively inexpensive sport but has great benefits and in recent years has become a trend because it is popular across generations and become an alternative healthy lifestyle. Hopefully with the launch of the BCA Bali Run 2017 can boost Bali tourism as the venue of the running event, where Bali itself is one of the Indonesian tourism icons” said Suwignyo.
Nusa Dua is chosen as the location of the race because 17% of total tourist arrivals to Bali Island choose Nusa Dua as a place to spend their holiday, where 80% of them are foreign tourists. The period of January-July 2017, the Statistics Indonesia (BPS) recorded the number of foreign tourists visiting Bali via Ngurah Rai Airport has reached 3,379,287 visits. The number is up by 24.46 percent compared to the period of January-July 2016. “With the presence of various running events, including the BCA Bali Run 2017, we expect the number of tourists visiting Bali is increasing,” continued Suwignyo.
Offering more than just a race, the BCA Bali Run 2017 presents the thrill of running along the highway above the sea. The Bali Mandara Toll road becomes an icon that contributes to the increased volume of tourist visits in Bali. As one of the interesting objects in Denpasar, Bali, the toll road is even dubbed as the most beautiful toll road in the world. In addition the stunning ocean view, runners were also indulged by breathtaking views of the beaches, trees, hills and various monuments along the highway.
BCA Bali Run 2017 registration opened on May15, 2017 and received an very enthusiastic response from running enthusiasts. As of September 2017, there are 3,700 registered participants. All categories offer medals, and specifically for the 25k category, runners will also get a Finisher Tee. The race route starts from The Nusa Dua Gate to Nusa Dua By Pass then passes the Bali Mandara toll road, and then returns to Nusa Duaand finishes on Peninsula Island.
In relation to the status determination of Mount Agung by the Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation Center (PVMBG) of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, at the opening ceremony, BCA symbolically handed over donations of gas tube and blankets to the BPBD (Regional Disaster Management Agency) to later forward them directly to the Mount Agung refugees. “Related to the disaster, on behalf of the BCA Bali Run committee, we would like to express our sympathy and may health and safety be bestowed upon all the refugees. May the help we provide can ease the burden of the Mount Agung refugees,” Suwignyo concluded
