BCA Supports Digital-Based Innovation and Creativity Development through IKF VI

Jakarta, 13 September 2017 – PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) supports the development of digital-based innovation and creativity in order to accelerate Indonesia’s economic growth. The support is given through an event titled IKF VI that takes the main theme of “Elevating Creativity & Innovation through Digital Collaboration”.

At the BCA VII Café Forum held at BCA Tower Breakout Area on Wednesday (13/09/2017), Director of BCA Henry Koenaifi said that innovation and creativity is the backbone in establishing a digital-based business. Everyone can be a pioneer of digital-based business, relying on the ease and current technological developments. However, not all business ideas provide value added to the society and benefits for business sustainability.

In this BCA VII Café Forum, there are also several keynote speakers, including economic observer Faisal Basri, Indra Wira, start-up actor Indra Wiralaksmana (Country Head & Director Ninja Xpress), Rama Mamuaya (Founder & CEO DailySocial.id) and Senior Executive Vice President of Strategic Information Technology of BCA Hermawan Thendean.

“We see that pioneering business development is growing rapidly, and BCA wants everyone who has ideas, initiatives, innovation, and creativity can take advantage of current technological development to become entrepreneurs. With this motivation, BCA holds the IKF VI as a platform for corporations and startup companies to grow their business through collaboration and partnership in technology,” Henry said.

Henry added that from the banking side, BCA also continues to bring innovations in launching digital-based banking solutions and services that provide ease of services and transactions to customers. This is done solely because BCA’s priority is to provide the best service to customers, in accordance with current developments.

“The era today is increasingly turning towards digital, and BCA is ready to pick up this change by issuing various technology-based service products that enable customers to use them safely and comfortably,” he said.

Hermawan Thendean said that the rapid growth of financial technology (fintech) businesses or e-commerce has led to the public’s need for information services and banking financial transactions. For example, in practice, fintech or e-commerce businesses require solid system connectivity with the banking world in order to make payment transactions for users of their applications or sites run smoothly.

“We have launched an Application Program Interface (API) that enables fintech or e-commerce businesses to connect with BCA banking services. There are several information services that can be used, such as: transfer, account mutation, ATM location, Sakuku payment, and other APIs to answer the needs of today’s fintech world,” he said.

In terms of financing, Hermawan added that BCA has also launched Central Capital Ventura (CCV). Through the venture capital, BCA will invest Rp 200 billion in fintech startups to help their financial services.

For start-up businesses, according to the Center for Human Genetic Research (CHGR), in 2016 Indonesia is listed as a country with the highest number of start-up businesses in Southeast Asia, which goes around 2,000 companies. By 2020, it is estimated that start-ups will grow to 13,000. Bank Indonesia asserts, during 2016, the users of online trading services or e-commerce have been spending US$5.6 billion or Rp 75 trillion. If divided by individual users of e-commerce in Indonesia, the spending reaches Rp 3 million per year.

“It is some of these facts that have encouraged BCA to select Elevating Creativity & Innovation Through Digital Collaboration as the theme for the IKF VI. In carrying out the Grand Celebration of Knowledge, which is expected to become a One Stop Knowledge, the bank BCA will hold a series of expo and exhibitions followed by exhibitors from the start-up actors and select tech provider companies so as to provide inspiration and knowledge to advance the Indonesian business world,” said Henry.

The IKF VI, which will be held on 3-4 October 2017 at The Ritz Carlton Pacific Place, Jakarta, will also present Rudiantara*, the Minister of Communication and Information of the Republic of Indonesia, as a keynote speaker. In two days event, a total of 23 speakers, who are expert in their respected field, both from domestic and abroad, will participate to share knowledge, experience and inspiration in developing the world of digital-based business, including  Economic Observer Faisal Basri, CEO of PT McKinsey Indonesia Philia Wibowo*, Celebrity Investor Ashraf Sinclair, Founder and Managing Director of Kejora Group Sebastian Togelang and the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Susi Pudjiastuti* who will give an inspiring closing speech titled “Leveraging Information and Technology for Sustainable Fisheries Management”.

“Therefore, we invite professionals and businesspeople to jointly learn and share knowledge with the expert speakers at the IKF,” Henry added.
