Singkawang, 15 August 2017 – Committed to instill interest in reading all across Indonesia, this time, PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) once again holds the Sharing Books Movement in Singkawang, West Kalimantan. The movement is the realization of #BukuUntukIndonesia movement, which has been running since March 2017.
Attending at the event were Director of BCA Santoso, Executive Vice President CSR of BCA Inge Setiawati, Head of BCA Regional Office XI Yandy Ramadhani and Head of BCA Singkawang Main Branch Office Eduard Hans Winarko symbolically submitted books to six Principals of Public Elementary Schools, including SDN 37 Sempalai, SDN 13 Kubung, SDN 52 Sijangkung, SDN 65 Kulor, SDN 05 Nyandung and SDN 08 Padang in Singkawang, West Kalimantan, Tuesday (15/08).
Also attending the event was the Head of Singkawang Education Agency Muhammad Nadjib and the Head of Empowerment of Social Resources Division of West Kalimantan Social Agency Rubiah. Adding to the festive of the event was the attendance of Giring ‘Nidji’ Ganesha as a story teller, who vigorously invites all the elementary school students to become Sahabat Bumi (Friend of the Earth) by maintaining cleanliness of the surroundings, creative thinking, and saving from an early age for their future.
“In commemorating its 60th Anniversary, BCA strives to Become Better through its three pillars of Learn Better, Serve Better and Give Better. The movement of donating books for Indonesia is a form of BCA’s commitment to Give Better to the people in the hope of instilling reading interest in all across Indonesia, which it sees substantial in realizing smart, qualified young Indonesian generation with good moral compass,” said Santoso.
#Buku untukIndonesia Movement had successfully acquired high public participations. In its first term, which was held from 15 March until 15 June 2017, donation funds collected reached more than Rp1 billion. From this fund, BCA donated books to 113 beneficiary schools in 60 locations in Indonesia.
“In addition to Singkawang, BCA have previously held a Sharing Books #BukuUntukIndonesia event in Lampung Makassar, Manado, Kupang and Banda Aceh. Thanks to all the people participated in the success of the #BukuUntukIndonesia movement and entrusted BCA as their channel to share the goodness. Let’s continue to create a wider opportunity for all Indonesian kids to gain access to books in order to help open their insight into the world and a prosperous life,” ended Santoso.
