Jayapura, 9 August 2017 – As a form of contribution to the education, PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) holds a Teacher Training in Jayapuraunder the theme of “Become an Inspiring Teacher”. The training was held to improve the quality of teachers as a person who brings brighter future for the children of Papua.
Attended by 50 teachers as trainees, Direktur of BCA Lianawaty Suwono accompanied by Head of Papua Province Education Agency Elias Wonda opened the ‘Become an Inspiring Teacher’ training at Hotel Horison, Jayapura, Wednesday (09/08). Opening the training, Lianawaty appreciates the teacher, which according to her is a soul call to educate the people of Indonesia. “Pursuing the teaching profession is not an easy matter. It requires patience and wisdom in guiding the children into an aspiring, knowledgeable, and noble young generation,” she said.
According to the Statistics Indonesia, in the academic year of 2015/2016, there were 18,386 teachers in the Papua Province for Primary School (SD), 7,712 teachers for Junior High School (SMP), and 6,159 teachers for Senior High School (SMA). Therefore, BCA hopes that this training can contribute to improving teacher qualification as a role model that contributes to the improved education quality in Papua.
“In the training, BCA provides a thorough education for the teachers on how to create an active, creative, effective and fun learning environment in order to allow the students to absorb and understand the lessons better,” said Lianawaty.
This is not first training session that BCA has done. In 2004, a similar training was held in Wamena, while in 2015 the same training was held in Wamena, Timika, Manokwari, and Sorong, and in 2016 the training was conducted for teachers in Mataram, Wamena, Manokwari, Sorong, and Timika. As for 2017, the plan is to hold the session in Jayapura, Wamena, Timika, Sorong, Manokwari, Mataram and Kupang. In addition to that, BCA also facilitates teacher competency development programs, including seminars for 300 teachers of Foster Schools in Yogyakarta, Lampung and Serang. Not only that, BCA also holds training sessions and evaluation supervision to approximately 100 teachers from 17 BCA’s Foster Schools located in Serang, Lampung and Yogyakarta under the theme of “Great Teacher Makes Great Students”.
The training session is an implementation of one Bakti BCA’s pillars, Smart Sollution. “Through Smart Soultion, we actively develop programs and cooperation with competen institutions to advance the quality of Indonesian education. The training is aimed to provide guidelines for teachers on how to shape students with good positive characters. Students a dynamic young generation become a challenge for teachers to continuously innovate their teaching style to create a fun learning environment and, at the same time, also able to shape the moral character of the students, who are not only smart but also have a good character,” Lianawaty concluded.
