Supporting Digitization, BCA Holds Finhacks 2017

Jakarta, 15 July 2017 – PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) is committed to support the digitization that enables customers to perform transaction that is practical, safe and convenient. The commitment is realized by holding the Financial Hackathon (Finhacks) 2017 which calls for IT developers or practitioners to collaborate and compete to produce modern innovations in the banking industry and address the challenge “How can technology make the daily banking services easier, safer and more fun for the customer?”

Deputy President Director of BCA Armand W. Hartono said that the ease of banking transaction that is supported by modern technology is the key to the BCA success in maintaining customer loyalty amid the highly competitive banking industry. “Last year, the Finhacks 2016 had successfully brought innovation in eWallet-based payment system and pioneered the creation of Virtual Assistant Chat Banking BCA (VIRA). We hope that the Finhacks 2017 which will be held on August 26-27 can help produce spectacular innovations in line with today’s digitization trend,” he stated.

As one of a series of the welcoming events of the Finhacks 2017, which will be held in upcoming August, BCA is collaborating with KASKUS and Daily Social to hold a Developer Meet Up, Saturday (15/7) in Jakarta. Attending to open the event was Deputy President Director of BCA Armand W. Hartono and Senior Executive Vice President of BCA Hermawan Thendean. With the theme of “Driving Digital Banking Breakthrough Among Internet Culture”, General Manager of KASKUS Payment Hans Lesmana, Vice President Marketing DailySocial Rahmat Harlyadi, and Project Manager of BCA Petrus Johans Ariwibowo were present as keynote speakers.

Senior Executive Deputy President of BCA Hermawan Thendean said that the Financial Hackathon (Finhacks) 2017 is introducing the concept of #Codescape, which derived from the word code and escape. “The 2017 Finhacks #Codescape will be held at BCA Learning Institute Sentul, far from the hustle and bustle of the city, in the hope of allowing IT developers and practitioners to refresh their mind so as to generate creative coding ideas and breakthroughs in digital banking. The total prize of Rp 120 million will be given to three winners, who are successful in introducing solutions to the problems in the financial technology, or, specifically, digital banking,” said Hermawan.

Furthermore, Hermawan explained the two different options of registration to join the Finhacks 2017 #Codescape: submit your innovation by providing a full description of digital banking application that you want to develop on the official website www.finhacks.id, no later than 14 August 2017, at 23.59 Western Indonesian Time. Team with the best innovative ideas will be announced on 22 August 2017. In addition, the developers can also join mini finhacks, which will be held in three cities, namely Surabaya, Yogyakarta and Bandung. This event will also serve as a sprint coding competition to find five best teams to win golden ticket to Finhacks 2017. The entirety of innovation will be assessed by a team of judge which comprises of COO & CTO Kaskus On Lee, CEO Biznet Gio Dondy Bappedyanto, CEO Daily Social Rama Mamuaya, CIO Bizzy.co.id Norman Sasono, CTO Tiket.com Natalia Ardianto, and CTO Pinjam.co.id Sofian Hadiwijaya.
