This badminton tournament, that has developed rapidly and achieved excellence in international stage, is not separable from the support of Bakti Olahraga Djarum Foundation that has been supporting the BIOSSP since more than 10 years ago.
“The involvement of Bakti Olahraga Djarum Foundation in this big event has been a great pride for us, to be given the opportunity to partake once again and complete our commitment to help produce world-class Indonesian badminton athletes. Since 1969, the Bakti Olahraga Djarum Foundation has paid special attention to the development of Indonesia’s badminton sport through PB Djarum and Djarum Badminton Scholarships. With the support of the entire community, we hope that our athletes can achieve great heights we are all proud of,” said Budi Darmawan, Communication Manager of Bakti Olahraga Djarum Foundation.
The most prestigious Indonesian badminton championship is to be different from the previous years. According to the renovation for the upcoming Asian Games 2018, BIOSSP will be held at the Plenary Hall Jakarta Convention Centre (JCC), Senayan. This location change has been through the verification process by the BWF and is expected to give new spirit for all Indonesian athletes competing in this tournament.
The BIOSSP 2017 serves as a proving ground of athlete’s achievement by aiming for one gold medal. To achieve these targets, the PBSI is relying on senior athletes and giving more confidence in young Indonesian athletes.
“Our target in this tournament, in my opinion, is very realistic, considering that we have a number of athletes who have achieved many glorious victories in various prestigious international championships. Young athletes in men’s singles such as Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, Jonatan Christie, Ihsan Maulana Mustofa will compete in the tournament together with other young athletes. Young men’s doubles such as Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo/Marcus Fernaldi Gideon who completed a remarkable Superseries hat-trick title in All England Open Super Series Premier 2017, India Open Super Series 2017 as well as Malaysia Open Super Series Premier 2017 will also compete in this tournament. Also to compete in this tournament is Angga Pratama, Ricky Karanda Suwardi, Praveen Jordan, and Debby Susanto together with senior athletes who return to strengthen the Indonesian team, such as Rian Agung Saputro, Tontowi Ahmad and Liliyana Natsir. They will compete against athletes from China, Korea, Japan, Malaysia, India, Denmark, England, Russia and other countries,” explained the Head of Public Relations and Media of the Executive Committee of Badminton Association of Indonesia (PP PBSI) Ricky Soebagja in the BIOSSP press conference at Kempinski Hotel, Jakarta, today.
