Jakarta, 25 April 2017 - PT Bank Central Asia TBk (BCA) is committed to extending assistance to an effort to improved infrastructure and wellbeing for all Indonesians. This time, BCA expressed its commitment by channeling donation to earthquake victims in Pidie Jaya, Aceh as well as donation to the Development and Cultivation of Emprit Ginger Program in Pati, Central Java through LAZISNU (Institute of Amil Zakat Infaq and Shadaqah Nahdlatul Ulama).
Executive Vice President of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) BCA Inge Setiawati accompanied by Senior Vice President of CSR BCA Sapto Rachmadi symbolically handed over donations in the amount of Rp 750 million to Aceh earthquake victims and Rp 250 million for the development and cultivation of emprit ginger program to Chairman of LAZISNU Syamsul Huda, Director of Fundraising LAZISNU Nur Rahman, and Deputy of LAZISNU Abdullah Mas’ud in Jakarta, Tuesday (4/25).
“BCA recognizes LAZISNU as a philanthropic institution under Nahdlatul Ulama, the largest Islamic organization in Indonesia, with a strong support base to help carrying out its duty to distribute donations all across Indonesia. The donations that we give to Aceh Earthquake Relief and the Development and Cultivation of Emprit Ginger Program through LAZISNU is a reflection of BCA’s commitment to Give Better to the people in need, that is expected to contribute to improved well-being and independence,” said Inge.
As a new institution in the body of Nahdlatul Ulama, LAZISNU has collected an average fundraising of Rp 6 billion per year, from 2010 to 2015. Committed to moving the spirit of “Sharing with Others,” LAZISNU has been proactively promoting social awareness to help ease the burden of natural disaster victims. One of them was the victims of the 6.4 magnitude earthquake in Pidie Jaya regency, Aceh. Considering the community is predominantly muslim, BCA submitted the Aceh relief fund of approximately Rp 630 million in Bakti BCA account through the NU Care - LAZISNU. The institution is expected to deliver the targeted aid to meet the post-disaster reconstruction needs.
“BCA participated in adding Rp 120 million, providing fund for a total submission of Rp 750 million. Such aid is used for repairing schools damaged by the earthquake, namely Pesantren Dayah Ma’had Al-Furqan in Pidie Jaya, Aceh,” continued Inge.
Apart from that, BCA also provided donation to the Development and Cultivation of Emprit Ginger Program in Prawoto Village Sukolilo District, Pati Regency, Central Java, in the amount of Rp 250 million, with the total of submitted fund to the NU Care - LAZISNU of Rp 1 billion.
“Previously, in December 2016, BCA through Main Branch Office (KCU) Lhokseumawe and KCU Banda Aceh had also donated basic necessities to help earthquake victims in Pidie Jaya, Aceh, in the amount of Rp 30 million. We certainly hope that this donation we submitted through LAZISNU would help the post-disaster reconstruction process in Pidie Jaya and improve the independence and wellbeing of people of Aceh and Central Java,” said Inge.
