BCA’S 60th Anniversary #BecomeBetter: BCA Holds Leadership Training for ITB and Unpad Students

Bandung, 1 April 2017 - PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) continues to support the development and improvement of human resources quality in Indonesia. Previously, BCA had presented Bakti BCA Scholarship to select accomplished students from Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) and Padjajaran University (Unpad) in the amount of Rp 300 million. This time, BCA holds a leadership training for BAKTI BCA Scholarship recipients at both university.

Attending to open the training program was Head of Human Resource Development BCA Region I Ely Gunawan together with Chairman of ITB Student Organization Sandro Mihradi and Secretary of Director of Education and Student Affairs Unpad Ahmad Baehaqi at Clove Garden Hotel & Residence, Bandung, Saturday (04/01). The training, which is held on 1 to 2 April 2017, aims to help accomplished students from ITB and Unpad to prepare themselves for today’s highly competitive world of work.

“In the 60th anniversary of BCA, BCA is committed to Become Better through its three pillars of Learn Better, Serve Better and Give Better. Through its dedication to Give Better, BCA aims to help college students to recognize and explore their potential that can be developed and is important in pursuing career in the world of work. We hope this leadership training helps students to foster positive characteristics in their career, whether as entrepreneurs, private employees or civil servants,” said Ely Gunawan.

According to data from Statistics Indonesia (BPS) 2016, the unemployment rate (TPT) in Indonesia in August 2016 reached 7.03 million people or equivalent to 5.61% of 125.44 million of the nation’s labor force. The unemployment rate of 5.6% means that from 100 labor force, there are approximately 5 or 6 unemployed persons. Therefore, BCA intends to hone the leadership skills of the students from ITB and Unpad who are expected to contribute to reducing unemployment in Indonesia.

To equip the students, BCA had involved Unison Training & Outdoor Activity as facilitator of the leadership training. “Through this leadership training, students from ITB and Unpad will be provided with useful insights into the work ethos, motivation, creativity, and innovation. In addition to that, students will also be introduced to a wide range of professions, leadership skills, as well as tips for adapting to a new workplace,” Ely continued.

A day earlier, the students from ITB and Unpad also have also attended a mentoring program which was held at BCA Regional Learning Center Regional Office II, Jalan Antapani, Bandung. The mentoring was expected to inspire students to excel at work. In the mentoring program, the management of BCA also shared their experience and knowledge about BCA’s dedications to provide the best banking services to its customers for over 60 years.

“We hope this leadership training can provide added values for the students from ITB and Unpad, especially for Bakti BCA scholarship fund recipients, so that they can prepare themselves well, become professional and capable human human resources, and be well educated entrepreneurs, who contribute to job creation in Indonesia,” Ely Gunawan concluded.

The leadership training selected “Young Leaders: It starts with you and end with others” as its theme, and aimed to foster positive characteristics as well as to  explore the potential of the accomplished students from ITB and Unpad, which is essential in pursuing career in the world of work. Through this training program, BCA intends to hone the leadership skills of the students from ITB and Unpad, who are expected to contribute to reducing unemployment in Indonesia.
