Lumajang, December 8, 2021 – Indonesia is grieving again at the end of 2021, on Saturday (12/04) Mount Semeru in Lumajang, East Java erupted. This natural disaster claimed dozens of lives and forces hundreds of affected residents to evacuate. In response to the disaster emergency situation, BCA through Bakti BCA Corporate Social Responsibility program distributes humanitarian support to communities affected by the eruption of Mount Semeru.
The distribution of these supports is carried out through two collaborative channels, Regional for Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Lumajang and the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI). The handover of the two donations are conducted separately.
The handover of donations through BPBD Lumajang is conducted at the Lumajang Regency Hall by the Head of BCA Regional Office VII Weminto Suryadi to the Secretary of BPBD Lumajang Endah Maryuni, on Tuesday (12/7). Meanwhile, the handover of donations through the TNI is handed over to the Commander of the Integrated Command Post for Natural Disaster Management APG (Pyroclastic Flow – Awan Panas Guguran) of Mount Semeru as well as Malang Danrem (Military Command) 083 Colonel Inf. Irwan Subekti at the evacuation site at the Sumbergono Command Post, Lumajang Regency on Wednesday (12/8).
“We, the entire BCA family, are deeply saddened and concerned by the natural disaster of the Mount Semeru eruption that occurred a few days ago. May the bereaved families always be comforted and those who have to evacuate will always be given strength. BCA, as a close member of the community, shares the responsibility for the natural disaster that has happened. It is our responsibility to distribute support and love for the affected," said Inge Setiawati, EVP CSR of BCA.
BCA's collaboration with some agencies is a form of mutual cooperation implemented to make aid distribution more efficient. The donations distributed are in the form of KN-95 masks, blankets, mattresses, tarpaulins, milk, rice, and other needed equipment worth a total of IDR 125 million.
For additional information, BCA branch offices, namely KCP (Sub-Branch Office) Lumajang and KCP Pasirian located not far from the disaster site, are currently operating normally and always providing optimal services for customers.
“The donations provided by Bakti BCA is expected to relieve the burden on our brothers and sisters who have been affected by the disaster. We both pray for the safety of the surrounding community and hope that in the future the community can quickly recover and return to their normal activities. We hope that the support we have distributed could be useful for many people," Weminto Suryadi concluded.
