Bandung, 16 March 2018 – PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) continues its commitment to support the improvement of human resource quality. BCA demonstrated its commitment by organizing a pebulic lecture on “The Development of Information Technology in the Financial Technology Era” for 300 students of Harapan Bangsa Institute ofTechnology (ITHB) on Friday (16/03).
The lecture was opened by the Rector of Harapan Bangsa Institute ofTechnology (ITHB) Bandung Samuel Tarigan and also presenting Deputy President Director of BCA Armand Wahyudi Hartono as keynote speaker. Every year, the development of information technology is continuously evolved, from both the user and initiator of technology innovation. On the other hand, Statistics Indonesia, known as BPS, stated that the information and communication technology development index (IDI) in Indonesia still remains below its neighboring countries in Southeast Asia. In 2016, International Telecommunication Union (ITU) revealed that Indonesia ranked 111th out of 176 countries with IDI of 4.34. Therefore, every party, especially the Indonesian younger generation must become a technologically literate citizen in order to face the increasingly fast-growing digital age with its latest innovations.
Deputy President Director of BCA Armand Wahyudi Hartono was present to talk about “The Development of Information Technology in the Financial Technology Era” and share his experience to the students on how technology can facilitate almost all people’s needs in many different sectors, including transportation, culinary, shopping, delivery services, and banking transactions. BCA, therefore, strives to follow the development of technology that is in accord with the evolving needs of our customers. For instance, BCA provides a variety of appropriate banking solutions via digital application, Virtual Assistant Chat Banking (VIRA), Application Program Interface (API), e-Branch and many more.
“The development of technology is directly proportional to the development of customers’ needs. Every new technological innovation will be followed by new customers’s needs. If an institution does not keep up with the current development, it will surely be difficult to win the competition,” Armand added.
