Semarang, 23 February 2018 – As a form ofBCA’s commitment to continue to support the development of Indonesian arts and culture, PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) organizes a Wayang Kulit Show led by famous puppeteer Ki Manteb Soedharsono, who performed the story of Saptaarga Binangun. The event will take place at Main Branch Office (KCU) Semarang (23/02). The show is also a series of events in celebration of the 61st Anniversary of BCA, which falls on February 21st.
The Wayang show is part of a series of Bakti BCA Solusi Sinergi activities under the auspices of the ‘BCA for Indonesian Wayang’ program. Also attending the event was the Head of BCA Regional Office II Semarang Gunawan Budi Santoso, Senior Vice President of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of BCA Sapto Rachmadi, Central Java Provincial Secretary Sri Puryono, and Deputy Mayor of Semarang Hevearita Gunaryanti Rahayu. “This program is a proof of BCA’s continuous commitment to preserve Indonesian diverse arts and culture, one of which is wayang. By holding the Wayang Kulit Show, BCA strives to increase public awareness and concern, especially the younger generation, to enjoy wayang,” said Tjia Irawan, Regional II Chief Support Officer.
Tjia Irawan added, “In its 61st anniversary, BCA is committed to introduce and instil love toward the culture of wayang puppetry by holding wayang shows. Wayang itself is rich in moral values and was anciently used as a medium for socialization and educating the public as well as a means of information, sermons, education, entertainment and social critics that has a high value of philosophy,” explained Tjia Irawan.
At the event, BCA presented the performance of Sembrana Lakmsi that resembles the 4 (four) BCA values, performed by BCA employees who are members of Paguyuban Karyawan BCA Pecinta Wayang Indonesia (Asia Wangi).
“As part of Indonesian culture, wayang must be preserved and continuously introduced and passed on to the next generations to maintain a strong, deep connection with indigenous Indonesian culture. Therefore, BCA held the event to instill public interest towards the art of wayang culture. Support from BCA is expected to increase the public appreciation for the sustainability and preservation of wayang puppetry itself,” Adhi Yoga Utama, Chairman of the Committee, concluded.
