BCA 61st Anniversary Social Activity Series, BCA Holds Its 101st Blood Donation and Gives Operational Vehicle to PMI

Jakarta, 21 February 2018 - BCA consistently continues to make a real contribution to the community. One of which is demonstrated through Bakti BCA 101st Blood Donation activity which will be held on 21-22 February 2018. The activity is part of the series of social activities conducted as an expression of gratitude for its 61st anniversary. The program is not only taking place at the Headquarter but also regional and branch offices. In addition to blood donation activity, on this 61st anniversary, BCA handed over 1 unit operational car to PMI, which was previously symbolically submitted on 3 November 2017.

The car unit will be handed over by Director of BCA Lianawaty Suwono to Head of UTD PMI DKI Jakarta dr. Salimar Salim, MARS. “BCA wants to use its 61st anniversary as a momentum to share with the general public. By handing over an operational car to PMI and holding this blood donation program today and tomorrow, BCA hopes to facilitate employees who wish to give blood donation and the said operational vehicle to address request from hospitals to serve patients who need blood aid in Jakarta area and the surrounding area,” said Lianawaty.

Based on World Health Organization’s standards, the minimum annual need for blood in Indonesia is 5.1 million bags yet the country’s blood bank stock is only at 4.1 million bags per year. Therefore, BCA constantly encourages its employees to regularly donate their blood through its blood donation program once every three months. This time, BCA is targeting a donation of approximately 500 bags of blood. “It is indeed small amount of donation compared to what the country needs, however, we hope that this activity will inspire the general public to also partake in blood donation,” Lianawaty continued. 

Bakti BCA Blood Donation program itself has been held since November 1990 in collaboration with Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) at BCA’s Headquarter and also branch offices. Throughout the year of 2017, through similar activity, BCA managed to collect 4,451 bags of blood.  

In addition to blood donation, as a form of gratitude in its 61st anniversary, BCA also organizes a free medical treatment program in its foster clinics and villages, Free Cataract Surgery in select areas, seminars for all teachers from Bakti BCA foster schools, financial literacy through Wayang, and many other social activities. The whole series of social activities conducted served as a form of BCA’s gratitude after more than half a century in the midst of Indonesian society. “We are very grateful for the trust and support of the people of Indonesia. Therefore, BCA is doing the best to provide more benefits in Indonesia,” Lianawaty concluded.
