Asmat, 21 January 2018 – Through Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) provided aid for the supply of milk and baby foods worth Rp250 million distributed to the victims of measles outbreak and malnutrition that hit the people of Agats Disctrict in Asmat Regency, Papua. Aids were distributed to remote villages hit by measles outbreak and malnutrition.
The aid was directly submitted by Head of BCA Timika Sub-Branch Office (KCP) Bernardus Danny Harsono to TNI Headquarter Territorial Staff Lt. Col. Jamaluddin at the hall of KODIM 1710 Mimika (21/1). “As a member of community, through Bakti BCA’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activity, the Synergy Solution pillar, BCA showed its concern and realized its commitment by providing food aid for the victims of measles outbreak and malnutrition. We realize that the assistance we provided does not cater for all the needs of the community affected by the outbreak. Therefore, we also hope that what we have done at BCA will further inspire and drive more parties to proactively participate in helping the people of Asmat.” said Bernardus.
As of 21st January, according to data from the health task force, the outbreak has claimed 67 lives where most of the victims are kids. Therefore, the government eventually declared the outbreak an Extraordinary Event (KLB). The outbreak in Agats District, Asmat Regency, Papua, happened due to the lack of adequate health facilities that had claimed lots of lives. Malnutrition, which is also one of the major causes of death, is derived from poverty and inadequate natural resources.

The Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI)’s Health Personnel Unit will distribute food aid, including milk for baby and kids, baby biscuits, baby porridge, and rice to remote places afftected by measles outbreak and malnutrition.
