BCA Supports Orkes Tiup Jogja (OTJ)

Yogyakarta, 10 December 2019 – PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA)’s commitment and consistency to contribute to maintaining the preservation of Indonesian arts continues to be manifested in various programs and activities. This time, through the Bakti BCA’s cultural program, BCA gives its support to Orkes Tiup Jogja (OTJ).

Attending the opening ceremony was the Independent Commssioner of BCA Cyrillus Harinowo and Head of Main Branch Office of BCA Yogyakarta Anggardini Swadari, together with the representatives of Orkes Tiup Jogja Denga in Yogyakarta, Tuesday (10/12).

Anggardini said that wind orchestra is a performing ensemble that is not only known in Indonesia, but has already gained its popularity way back in Western countries, which goes by the name brass band, because most of the instruments were made of brass and wood, although often accompanied by percussion. Compared to our wind orchestra, the difference lies in artistic and cultural values that are deeply integrated into the repertoires. Therefore, BCA also supports activities that can provide local arts and cultural value added.

Yogyakarta is one of the cities in Indonesia that offers an array of tourist destinations, which attracts tourists from all over the world. Culture and arts play a major part and are inherent in Yogyakartans’ lives, which subsequently carry a unique moral message to visitors. Orkes Tiup Jogja becomes a platform to convey Yogyakarta signature artform as part of Indonesian heritage through modern wind instruments without losing its traditional identity.

“This activity can serve as an appropriate platform to introduce our culture, without being seen as being ‘too old’. Through this, we expect to provide positive impacts to the development of wind orchestra in Indonesia, especially among the youth as the successor of our country. BCA will also continue to support various programs and other art and cultural activities, such as Wayang shows, which has become a routine event conducted by BCA,” tutup Anggardini.

As is known, through the Synergy Solution pillar, BCA has consistently held Wayang for Student since 2014. The program is aimed at introducing Indonesia’s authentic cultural heritage to schoolers through educational and fun activities. This year, BCA has held Wayang for Student in Balikpapan, Bandung, and Semarang, which has involved hundreds of students.
