50 Select Accomplished Students of Sumatera Utara University to Receive Bakti BCA Scholarships

Medan, 15 November 2019 – As many as 50 select accomplished students of Sumatera Utara University have been granted with the Bakti BCA scholarships initiated by the Smart Solution pillar of the Bakti BCA program. Committed to supporting the development of education in Indonesia, BCA continues its effort to improve the quality of human resources (HR) by channeling a scholarship fund to 18 State Universities with a total value of Rp5.35 billion.

The Bakti BCA Scholarships worth Rp200 million was symbolically given by the Head of Regional Service Center of BCA Amri Lukman to student representatives of Sumatera Utara University Medan, Friday (15/11). Also attending the ceremony was the Head of Student and Alumni Affairs of Sumatera Utara University Effendi Manurung. 

Lukman said that we believe the youth today is the successor of the country. It is important to form superior human resource in order to produce next generation with great quality. The Bakti BCA Scholarships, which have been granted to select accomplished students Sumatera Utara University, is expected to fuel their desire to learn and academic success that they, in turn, may become an agent of change. 

The Bakti BCA Scholarship program itself was developed since 1999 and is intended for accomplished undergraduate students (bachelor degree) who have a demonstrated financial need. We hope that the scholarships received by students, including those of Sriwijaya University, can help improve their motivation to learn and finish their education.. 

In 2019, BCA provides a scholarship funds totaling Rp5.35 billion channelled to 18 state universities. Not only the material support that the Bank BCA provided, students are also equipped with a set of soft skills that are needed in pursuing higher education and to prepare them prior to entering the workforce. 

The Bakti BCA Scholarships has entered its 20 years and continue to evaluate the funds it has channelled throughout the years as well as the number of grantees. As of 2019, BCA added the number of state universities receiving its scholarships from 16 to 18 state universities. Meanwhile, the amount of funds allocated also increases yearly. Below is the detail of the allocation of the Bakti BCA Scholarships funds:

“The industrial revolution 4.0 has urged the younger generation to be ready to face agile global competition. The goal is not only to prepare our youth in big cities, but also those in suburbs and rural areas all across Indonesia to be competent individuals in order to compete in the global arena. Therefore, BCA has been consistent channeling scholarships to several universities in Indonesia every year. We hope that the scholarshiops may help foster creative and innovative potential of young people in their respective fields,” added Lukman.  

Lea Kartyka Sembiring said, “It is a privilege for me to be one of the grantees of the Bakti BCA Scholarships program. It will definitely be my source of motivation to be better and more persistent in order to achieve various academic achievements in the future.
