Belitung, 09 November 2019 – The beauty of nature, culture and Indonesian indigenous heritage is our national treasure that we should constantly promote. PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) realizes that tourism is one of the key economic sectors in Indonesia that has a strategic position to help increase the country’s foreign revenues. Stretching from Sabang to Merauke, Indonesia offers exquisite natural beauty, including Bangka Belitung.
The province of Bangka Belitung Islands or better known as Babel is a province of Indonesia, comprising the islands of Bangka and Belitung. It features dreamy white sand beaches, exceptional culinary, heritage and religious tourism, good infrastructure and a variety of accommodation options. All cater to the diverse needs of visitors and become the reason for tourists to visit. Furthermore, Bangka Belitung has a tourism village for your destination, namely Bukit Peramun Belitung, a BCA’s assised tourism village.
Bukit Peramun Belitung, which was inaugurated a while ago by BCA, enjoys a unique distinction that attracts tourists. Bukit Peramun is known for the many local medicinal plants that are widely used in traditional medicine practices by the locals. The village itself is located at an altitude of 129 menter above sea level in West Belitung. The abundant diversity of its flora and fauna has been turned into instagrammable spots for tourists, such as the hobbit house, love bridge, the twin rocks, and flying car. The village has also been dubbed as digital-based village due to its success in introducing the QR Code system to advertise the species and use of medicinal plants found in Bukit Peramun, and bilingual virtual guides (Indonesian and English).
“The tourism potential in Belitung has become principal tourist attraction. Its unspoiled natural beauty and culture has attracted many local and foreign tourists who include Belitung in their checklist. What’s even more special is that Belitung has many fascinating tourism villages to visit, including Bukit Peramun that offers nature, educational and adventure tourism. Another distinct advantage of Bukit Peramun is the application of virtual guide technology to further pamper visitors during their visit,” explain Executive Vice President of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of BCA Inge Setiawati during her visit to Bukit Peramun, Belitung.
Also visiting Bukit Peramun Tourism Village, Belitung, was Executive Vice President of Secretariat & Corporate Communication of BCA Hera F Haryn, HEad of KCU BCA Tanjung Pandan Rustam, Chairman of Arsel Community and the Person in Charge of the Bukit Peramun Tourism Village Adie Darmawan, Head of Disaster Management Agency of East Belitung Regency Andriyanto Putra in Belitung, Saturday (02/11).
BCA manifested its position and support through capacity building and human resource assistance in Bukit Peramun tourism village. Inge added that the local community development model conducted by BCA always focuses on local potentials that had not been optimized. BCA’s presence, through its assisted village program, helps local communities develop these potentials into an economic source for future self-sufficiency.
“BCA started the assisted village program in Bukit Peramun since 2018. As a first step, we facilitated several trainings, such as service excellence, service standards, creative selling skill, and golden heart leadership. On the other hand, in order to support the facilities and infrastructures, we also make donations for the development of mushola (prayer room), digital information system, monuments/inscriptions, etc. All supports, both material and non-material, are provided to support improved knowledge and skills of the village operators. As a result, they project more confidence while serving visitors,” explained Inge.
The training and assistance program provided by BCA for the operator of Bukit Peramun had been recognized at the ISTA – Indonesian Sustainable Tourism Awards 2019 a while ago. At the awarding event, Bukit Peramun won the Green Gold award for Environmental Conservation category. “We are optimistic that Bukit Peramun can develop optimally, excel, and contribute to improving Indonesia’s economy through both local and foreign tourists,” added Inge.
