BCA Channels Rp250 Million Scholarship Fund to Accomplished Students of Hasanuddin University

Makassar, 27 September 2019 – PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) continues giving its support towards the development of education and improved quality of human resources in Indonesia. This year, BCA gives scholarships to 18 state universities in Indonesia with a total value of Rp5.35 billion. Hasanuddin University is one of the universities receiving the Bakti BCA Scholarships. 

The Bakti BCA Scholarships worth Rp250 million was given to 50 select accomplished students, handed over symbolically by the Head of KCU Branch Business Development of BCA Panakkukang Indrawanto Sahama to student representatives of Hasanuddin University, witnessed by Chief Administration of Student Affairs Office of Hasanuddin University Andi Darwin and Chief Administration of Student Welfare of Hasanuddin University Sampara Syarifuddin, Friday (27/09). 

On a separate occasion, Head of BCA Regional Office IV Hendrik Sia said that superior human capital can be shaped through quality education. BCA is increasingly committed to supporting the development of education and improving human resources in Indonesia through the Bakti BCA Scholarships program. “We are now living in a competitive borderless era, at which the competition for quality human resource has then become a global challenge, so it is only reasonable to support education in Indonesia to produce highly competitive workforce in the future,”  added Hendrik. 

The Bakti BCA Scholarships program comes as a form of commitment of BCA to support the development of education and improved human resource in Indonesia. The Bakti BCA Scholarship program itself was developed since 1999 and is intended for accomplished undergraduate students (bachelor degree) who have a demonstrated financial need.

“We see now that education is evenly distributed, it needs to be massively optimized through developing the potential of the young generation today. With the scholarship, we hope that it can be the source of education to continue their work and mold a better, more useful self-competence for the future,” added Hendrik. 

The Bakti BCA Scholarships has entered its 20 years and continue to evaluate the funds it has channeled throughout the years as well as the number of grantees. As of 2019, BCA added the number of state universities receiving its scholarships from 16 to 18 state universities. Meanwhile, the amount of funds allocated also increases yearly. Below is the detail of the allocation of the Bakti BCA Scholarships funds: 

In 2019, BCA provides a scholarship funds totaling Rp5.35 billion for 703 students from 18 state universities. Not only the material support that the Bank BCA provided, students are also equipped with a set of soft skills that are needed in pursuing higher education and to prepare them prior to entering the workforce. The supports include mentoring program in each semester and training, which contains an introduction to self-potential, character development, leadership, financial planning and entrepreneurship.  

“We hope that the Bakti BCA scholarship given to select accomplished students of Hasanuddin University can provide value added. As we advance the quality of education in Indonesia, we hope that these students can then make a real contribution to the nation,” Hendrik concluded.
