Strengthening Farmers Community in Central Java, BCA Inaugurates Doesoen Kopi Sirap Assisted Village Semarang

Semarang, 07 September 2019 – The economic potential found all across local communities in rural areas needs the support from all parties to develop into new economic segment. PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) realizes these economic potentials by engaging directly in helping local communities to achieve economic independence that comes from the local economic potentials.

Today, Sunday (08/09), BCA officially authorizes Griya Kopi Donation followed by Coffee Harvest. Attending the inauguration was Independent Commissioner of BCA Cyrillus Harinowo, Vice President of CSR of BCA Ira Bachtar, Vice President of UMKM & Micro Credit Development of BCA Ade Bachtiar, Chief Operating Support of BCA Regional Office II Tjia Irawan, Member of DPRD Central Java Sholehah Kurniawati, Vice Chairman of DPRD Semarang Regency Nurul Huda, Jambu District Head Muhammad Edi Soekarno, Chairman of Pokdarwis Ahmad Rofi’i, and Chairman of Gapoktani Ngadiyanto.

One of the concrete manifestations of BCA’s role and support was carried out through mentoring program, which aimed at strengthening the capacity and HR of the coffee farmers community in Doesoen Kopi Sirap in Semarang, Central Java.

Cyrillus said that the local community development model carried out by BCA always relied on local potentials that had not yet been developed to its maximum potential. BCA’s presence, through its assisted village program, helps local communities to be able to develop local potentials into a promising economic source of independence in the future.

“To achieve independence, BCA conducts regular assistance and training programs in accordance with the needs of the said local community, both related to increased production, marketing, and service excellence, which are useful for the development of a sustainable coffee business going forward,” explained Cyrillus.

Cyrillus added, the development of local communities based on local potentials conducted by BCA also focuses on tourism aspects. Since it is a growing trend, these communities are encouraged to develop their farms for tourism. Agritourism elevates local potentials and turns it into a locomotive that drives the economy from all different sectors. As a result, agriculture is not the only sector that benefits from this, but also accommodation, restaurants, and other tourist hot spots that gain value added.

“These efforts require continuous assistance. It takes time to make such transformation. BCA itself consistently helps local communities to activate local potentials through tourism, as seen in other BCA’s assisted villages. This is what we will do here for the coffee farmers community in Central Java,” added Cyrillus.

Since 2018, BCA has provided donations in the form of Service Excellence Training, Building Tourism Village with Human Resources 4.0 Training, Guide Training for 20 members of Doesoen Kopi Sirap, donation for the development of Griya Kopi Sirap, equipment donation for coffee education.
