Supporting Anti-Drug Movement, BCA and BNN Organize Anti-Drug Volunteers Training

Bogor, 5 July 2019 – PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) has once again manifested its commitment to care for the younger generation to avoid drug use. BCA implemented its commitment through an Anti-Drug Volunteer Training. After the signing of cooperation agreement with the National Anti-Narcotics Agency (Indonesian: Badan Narkotika Nasional or BNN), this time, BCA is collaborating with BNN to hold Anti-Drug Volunteers training. A total of 50 participants, composed of BCA employees from headquarter, branch and regional offices, enthusiastically participated in the training.

Attending the training was President Director of BCA Jahja Setiaatmadja, Director of BCA Lianawaty Suwono, Executive Vice President of Learning and Development of BCA Lena Setiawati, Executive Vice President Center of Digital of BCA Wani Sabu, and Head of BNN RI Commissioner General of Police Heru Winarko, at BCA Learning Institute, Sentul, Friday (05/07). The training was conducted for two consecutive days, on 4-5 July 2019. Also attending as keynote speakers were Head of Sub-directorate of Legislation of the Department of Law and Cooperation of BNN RI AKBP DR Supardi, Main Lecturer of Education and Training Center of BNN Diah Setia Utami, Chief of Community Organizations Section of Community Groups Guntur Maulana, and Chief of the Labor Section of Non-Government Agencies Dewi Ayu Iriani.

According to BNN’s data, more than 4 million Indonesians are drug users. Even more worrying, the prevalence of substance use and abuse among students is 3.21% or equivalent to more than 2 million students have misused drugs in 2018. Meanwhile, drug abuse in the working class is at 2.1% or more than 1.5 million adults have abused drugs in 2018.

“The massive numbers of drug users in Indonesia has further encouraged BCA as an institution that is close with the young generation to take steps by holding a training that aims at providing in-depth information about the dangers of illegal drug use. The majority of BCA employees are dominated by young people, who are vulnerable to high-risk groups, and we therefore see it is important to provide socialization on drugs specifically and sustainably,” explained Jahja.

There were several training sessions including Criminal Sanctions & Legal Aspects, Dangers of Drug Abuse for the Body and the Concept of Rehabilitation, Anti-Drug Volunteers, and Character Building to Fight against Drugs Abuse. Participants will then form a team of lecturers or volunteers, who can help with the socialization of the “Danger of Drugs” in all BCA work units, be it at Headquarter Office, Regional Offices or Branch Offices.

“BCA also expresses its highest appreciation for the efforts and hard work carried out by the National Narcotics Agency that consistently and continuously takes on an extremely important role in fighting, preventing, and overcoming drug misuse in Indonesia. Through the Anti-Drug Volunteers training, we hope that BCA employees may receive long-term benefits, and, in turn, disseminate them to the general public and become the agents of change,” Jahja concluded.
