Belitung, 4 May 2019 – PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) through the Bakti BCA’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program continues to support tourism development and improves the quality of human resources in Indonesia. BCA implements its commitment by inaugurating Bukit Peramun and Aik Rusa’ Berehun as Bakti BCA’s Assisted Village.

Attending the inauguration was Director of BCA Vera Eve Lim accompanied by Executive Vice President of CSR of BCA Inge Setiawati, Head of BCA Regional Office VI Daniel Hendarto, Head of KCU BCA Tanjung Pandan Rustam, Head of KCU BCA Pangkal Pinang Vanessa Claudia Flaviana along with government officials of the West and East Belitung in Belitung, Saturday (04/05). Also attending the inauguration ceremony were 40 Customers of BCA Prioritas KCU Tanjung Pandan.

The tourism sector is one of the economic activities expected to become a source of foreign exchange earnings, expand employment, encourage regional development and become a platform to advertise the beauty of nature. Good infrastructure management and quality human resources in various tourist destinations in Indonesia is one of the key elements that plays a major role in attracting both domestic and foreign tourists. This is in line with the BCA’s Excellence Business Solution pillar, where its focus on partnership program with communities goes to the utilization of community-based tourism potentials that’s been established in the Assisted Tourism Villages.

“Bangka Belitung, known for its mining, is one of the sought for destinations for travelers to enjoy nature.  It is rarely known that there are villages in Belitung that offer interesting tours such as adventure, nature and education,” explained Vera.

Bukit Peramun is known for the many local medicinal plants that are widely used in traditional medicine practices by the locals. The village itself is located at an altitude of 129 meter above sea level in West Belitung. The abundant diversity of its flora and fauna has been turned into instagrammable spots for tourists, such as the hobbit house, love bridge, the twin rocks, and flying car. The village has also been dubbed as digital-based village due to its success in introducing the QR Code system to advertise the species and use of medicinal plants found in Bukit Peramun, and bilingual virtual guides (Indonesian and English).

Meanwhile, Aik Rusa’ Berehun, Terong, known as creative village due to its success to transform an abandoned strip mine into a tourist destination in West Belitung. Here, visitors can enjoy Belitung signature delicacies called Bedulang, water tourism, homestays, camping ground, educational weaving packages, camping painting, enjoying Bukit Tebalu’s view, mangroves, and vegetable farms.

These two villages are developed by BCA through a number of community development and empowerment programs that are oriented towards excellent service quality for the visitors. “We have carried out various steps and initiatives to develop tourism potentials in these two villages by facilitating several training programs such as service excellence, service standards, creative selling skills, and golden heart leadership, and many others,” added Vera.

“By inaugurating these two villages, we hope to contribute to improving the tourism sector especially in the Belitung area, and to improve the quality of human resources, which will lead to increased local economic growth,” Vera concluded.
