Bandung, 12 March 2019 – PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) is always committed to improving the quality of human resources through education. Through the CSR Bakti BCA program, BCA implements its commitment by giving a public lecture to 300 students of Padjadjaran University under the theme of “Building Organization Capability”.
The Public Lecture was opened by Deputy Rector III of Padjadjaran University Keri Lestari and featured Executive Vice President of Human Capital Management Division of BCA Hendra Tanumihardja as a keynote speaker. Also attending the event was Head of BCA Regional Office 1 BCA Lanny Budiati, and BCA managements in Bandung, Tuesday (12/03).
Every year, Indonesian students graduate from all universities and majors and enter the workforce. They certainly need to be prepared in terms of knowledge, insight, and experience in order to reduce undergraduate unemployment in Indonesia. According to data from the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education, approximately 8.8% of the total 7 million unemployed in Indonesia is undergraduates.
Executive Vice President of Human Capital Management Division of BCA Hendra Tanumihardja attended the event to share his knowledge on building organizational capabilities and also his experience on the importance of human resources and its role in building companies in globalization era today. “The success of companies depends on its human resources because it is one of the keys of the company’s competitive advantage such as BCA’s human capital management that focuses on improving and creating values for human resource development,” explained Hendra.
On the other hand, BCA sees the importance of self-improvement of its employees. Therefore, BCA continues to develop strategies manifested in training and development programs that are divided into three categories, namely Class Session, Digital Learning, and Career Development.
Hendra added that to produce globally competitive university graduates is our duty, including BCA as a banking institution that stands by the people. “The skills of our graduates must be established in accordance with the needs of the business and industry, especially that we are now entering the Industrial Revolution 4.0. Indonesian students must be equipped with both hard skilland soft skill in order to compete and penetrate the industry in this digital era,” said Hendra.
In addition to initiating several public lectures, BCA also routinely conducts training programs for students in several universities all across the nation to hone their skills and ensure their readiness to enter the workforce. BCA, through its CSR Bakti BCA program, also provides scholarships, which now has entered its 18th year. It was recorded that in 2018, the funds allocated for the Bakti BCA Scolarships amounting to Rp4.95 billion and channelled to 16 public universities, with 636 grantees for the 2017/2018 academic year and 629 grantees for the 2018/2019 academic year.
“On this occasion, I would like to encourage students to keep up their good work. The workforce is just around the corner. And you must be ready to face the highly competitive workforce. Hard work will help you reach your goals and dreams. Let’s strengthen your character, build your networks, enhance your competence and improve your creativity,” Hendra concluded.
Besides Padjadjaran University, the CSR Bakti BCA’s public lectures will also be held at several other universities Mulawarman University, Udayana University, Brawijaya University, Sam Ratulangi University, and University of Indonesia.
