Ever heard those scary stories on social media or from a friend whose bank account got wiped out by a scam?
Scam tricks are getting crazier and more advanced every day, making us super worried. Don't let yourself be the next victim!
Think of it like your house key: your personal info is exactly what fraudsters need to unlock and steal your money from the bank. That's why you seriously need to keep your personal data super secret.
Let's dive into some important tips and tricks to guard your personal data, so your bank accounts stay safe and you can chill out.
Don't Panic, Verify First!
Received a strange message about your banking? If you get a suspicious message, don't trust it immediately. Stay calm, check directly with your bank's official source, and keep your emotions in check.
1. Strange Link? Don't Just Click, SKIP It!
Got a suspicious link in an SMS, WhatsApp, or email? Don't just click it! Especially if it's from an unclear source or the message seems dodgy. That's a gateway for malware or a trap to trick you into entering personal data. Just ignore it!
2. Your Data, Your Secret!
Passwords, PINs, OTPs, card numbers, CVV (Card Verification Value)/CVC (Card Verification Code) – the three-digit security code on the back of your BCA debit or credit card – card expiry dates, BCA APPLI Key codes, and so on. All of these are personal data that must be kept confidential. BCA and no other bank will ever ask for all that data. Don't leak it to anyone!
3. Passwords and PINs Are Like Your House Keys!
Create strong, hard-to-guess passwords and PINs. For example, use a combination of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols for passwords. For PINs, avoid your birthdate or anything easy to guess. Equally important, regularly change your passwords and PINs!
4. Don't Do Bank Transactions on Public Wi-Fi!
Free internet might be fun, but it's vulnerable to scammers' snooping or malware! Use your mobile data connection when doing transactions or banking on your smartphone. Remember, security comes first!
5. Social Media is a Stage, Not a Safe!
Cut back on showing off personal data like your ID card, driver's license, or personal assets on social media. Without realizing it, you might be revealing your car plate number, home address, ID number, and more. Scammers can use this to carry out their schemes. Be wise with your social media use!
Basically, don't give scammers even a tiny chance! Let's always protect our personal data to keep our bank accounts safe!
