Jakarta, 4 June 2024 – PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) is committed to bring contribution to the society. This time, BCA's dedication to the community was manifested by holding a blood donation event at Menara BCA, Jakarta, on Thursday and Friday (30-31 May 2024). BCA's 115th blood donation event, held in collaboration with the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) and the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK), successfully collected 411 blood bags.
The opening of the blood donation event was attended by BCA President Director Jahja Setiaatmadja, Head of PPATK Ivan Yustiavandana, BCA Director Haryanto Budiman, BCA Director Antonius Widodo Mulyono, PPATK Deputy for Strategy and Cooperation Tuti Wahyuningsih, PPATK Deputy for Compliance Reporting and Supervision Fithriadi, and Chairman of the 22nd National Movement for Anti-Money Laundering and Reporting and Prevention of Financing of Terrorism (APU-PPT) Kamanto Pujiono.
BCA President Director Jahja Setiaatmadja said, “We are pleased to be able to continue one of our traditions and regular activities, namely blood donation. In addition to involving BCA employees, our blood donation activities are often held on a wider scale, inviting customers and the surrounding community to participate. This time, BCA's blood donation activity was held together with PPATK to commemorate the 22nd National Movement for APU-PPT. We hope this activity can have a positive impact and bring many benefits to the community, especially to those who need blood bags regularly.”
All blood bags collected from this event will be used to fulfill the blood needs in Jakarta. BCA has routinely organized blood donation activities in collaboration with PMI since 1991. In addition to collaborating in blood donation activities, BCA also strengthens PMI's operations by providing one operational vehicle in 2017, 10 units of blood scale & mixer in 2018 and 2019, and a donor car in 2021.
PPATK Head Ivan Yustiavandana said that this activity was a form of solid cooperation between PPATK and BCA. “We have both given blood through this activity, so we hope that it will further strengthen the commitment of PPATK and BCA to continue to fight financial crime in Indonesia,” Ivan said.
Since 2016, Bakti BCA has helped collect 13,090 blood bags and 18 convalescent plasma through blood donation activities. Bakti BCA's consistency in organizing blood donation activities earned the company a MURI record as the “First National Private Bank to Organize the 100th Blood Donation Activity” in 2017.
In addition to blood donation activities, Bakti BCA strives to always make a positive contribution to society through various health-related activities. Some of Bakti BCA's programs in the health sector include free medical check-ups including screening for hypertension, diabetes, high blood pressure, and uric acid; as well as cataract surgery social services that have been routinely held since 2001 and have benefited 8,329 patients in various regions.
BCA through Bakti BCA seeks to empower individuals to lead healthier lives by providing access to healthcare for underprivileged citizens. In 2023, BCA held several programs under the Bakti Kesehatan pillar, including “Bakti Healthy for Toddlers” and “Stunting Prevention Education for Teenagers” to support the government's target of reducing stunting. BCA also collaborates with BKKBN and other partners in the PASTI program to improve the quality of public health through education on stunting prevention and healthy nutrition.
“We try to maintain the company's commitment and consistency in conducting blood donation activities and other contributions to the community. This is an activity that can foster social awareness among BCA employees and also provide positive benefits to the community,” Jahja concluded.
