BCA Director Gives Udayana University Students Tips for Facing Technology Disruption and Social Change

Bali, June 3, 2024 - PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) continued the series of “BCA Berbagi Ilmu” activities in several cities including Bali. This time, more than 600 students of Udayana University (UNUD) attended a public lecture entitled “Be Relevant in the Midst of Technology Disruption & Social Changes” presented by BCA Director Santoso at Widya Sabha Auditorium, UNUD, on Monday (3/6).

“BCA Berbagi Ilmu” represents BCA's commitment to support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in Quality Education. The “BCA Berbagi Ilmu” activities aims to prepare a qualified and competitive young generation to face the peak of the demographic bonus in 2030. This program is one of Bakti BCA's flagship programs in the Bakti Pendidikan (education) pillar.

BCA Director Santoso said, “In this dynamic world, a person’s relevance is measured by their ability to adapt and create added value. People need to have an adaptive attitude and be able to see opportunities observantly so that they remain relevant in the midst of technological disruption and social change. Existing opportunities should be viewed as chances for people to keep moving forward, leveraging technology to create innovations for a better life.”

In this public lecture session, students were invited to understand how technology has changed various aspects of life and the way we interact. Santoso also emphasized the importance of soft skills such as creativity, the ability to collaborate, and think critically in the face of rapid changes. In addition, Santoso also outlined the innovations implemented at BCA to address these changes.

“Technology is not a replacement for humans, but a tool that humans can utilize as a partner to expand their capabilities. To remain relevant in the midst of technological disruption and social change, BCA also continues to innovate and adapt quickly. We believe that by utilizing technology, we can provide the best service to our customers and society. A concrete example is how BCA initially expanded ATM access across Indonesia, and now BCA has launched the BCA Mobile and MyBCA applications as proof that BCA adapts well in this era of technological advancement,” said Santoso.

The “BCA Berbagi Ilmu” program was held to commemorate National Education Day, and conducted public lectures at 5 universities, namely BINUS University, Diponegoro University, Bandung Institute of Technology, Sriwijaya University, and Udayana University. In addition, the “BCA Berbagi Ilmu” program also features Student Banking Tour activities that invite a number of high school and university students to learn about banking and financial literacy while visiting BCA branch offices. There was also an empowerment activity for people with disabilities entitled I'm Capable.

In 2023, the “BCA Berbagi Ilmu” public lecture series was held at 5 universities in Indonesia and attended by more than 3,000 students. Meanwhile, the Student Banking Tour was attended by over 900 students from 18 schools. Finally, for people with disabilities, around 30 people were empowered through skills development, art bazaars, and tours to BCA branch offices.

BCA Corporate Communications & Social Responsibility EVP Hera F. Haryn said, “BCA Berbagi Ilmu under Bakti BCA is our way of supporting the younger generation to become excellent human resources and contribute to the Indonesian economy. Moreover, according to BPS, Indonesia is expected to enter a demographic bonus period with a peak period until 2030, indicated by the number of productive age populations reaching twice the number of children and elderly populations. We believe that the best investment for this young generation is education, therefore Bakti BCA is committed to continue facilitating them with various forms of support.”

Under “Bakti BCA”, the company is committed to providing benefits on an individual, community, and ecosystem scale. BCA believes that empowered individuals can empower their communities, and empowered communities can positively contribute to preserving the ecosystem, thus creating a mutually influential and interrelated cycle.
