Semarang, 9 March 2024 – Wisma BCA BSB Semarang succeeded in earning a Green Building Certificate from the Green Building Council Indonesia (GBCI). This award is a testament of PT Bank Central Asia Tbk’s (BCA) commitment in implementing environmentally friendly building initiatives. The Green Building Certificate is a certificate given to a building that has been operating for more than a year and is proven to implement the green building concept.
The Green Building Certificate obtained by Wisma BCA BSB is categorized in the Existing Building V1.1 Platinum Level. The certificate was presented directly by BCI Organizational Secretary Iparman Oesman to BCA Director Frengky Chandra Kusuma at Wisma BCA BSB, Semarang, Friday (8/3).
Established in 2021, Wisma BCA BSB Semarang is the Company’s second building to earn the Green Building Certificate. In 2021, Wisma BCA Foresta in BSD, Tangerang, initially received the Platinum Level Green Building Certificate from GBCI.
BCA Director Frengky Chandra Kusuma said, “The success of Wisma BCA BSB Semarang in earning the Green Building Certificate in the Existing Building Category V1.1 Platinum Level is a remarkable achievement. This reflects our hard work and the realization of our company’s vision, placing sustainability at the heart of our business operations. Additionally, this achievement triggers our motivation to commit even further in prioritizing ESG values.”
With a Gross Leasable Area (GLA) of 27.255 m2, Wisma BCA BSB Semarang is equipped with various environmentally friendly features supporting energy efficiency. Some of these include a building automation system for monitoring and controlling the building equipment, a chiller plant management system for efficient use of electricity, reverse osmosis technology utilized for drinking water, and recycled water utilization.
Furthermore, this green building also utilizes solar panels to reduce electrical consumption generated by fossil fuels. Wisma BCA BSB also provides facilities to support a healthy lifestyle, such as bicycle parking, sports facilities, and shower rooms. All these facilities are managed by the Energy Management Team of BCA’s Logistics and Building Division.
Aside from implementing the green building concept, BCA also continues to apply sustainability in the financing sector. BCA’s support in financing the green sector is reflected in their total lending to the sustainable sector, which increased by 10.6% YoY to Rp202.6 trillion as of December 2023, contributing 24.8% to the company’s total financing portfolio.
“Environmental factors and sustainable business are always prioritized in running the company’s operations. Therefore, Wisma BCA BSB Semarang is not our last effort in implementing environmentally conscious banking operations,” Frengky concluded.
