Yogyakarta, 4 November 2023 - PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) reinforces its commitment to improve literacy comprehension among Indonesia’s youth with Bakti BCA’s Semarak Literasi program. Serving as a dynamic platform, this initiative encourages both young individuals and educators to engage with reading literacy in a more enjoyable and interactive manner. Furthermore, the program is specifically designed to commemorate Language Month, celebrated every October.
BCA organized a series of activities as part of Bakti BCA’s Semarak Literasi program. The main event was held on Saturday (4/11) at Taman Budaya Gunungkidul, Yogyakarta, and attracted over 400 attendees, including students, teachers, school principals, and literacy activists. The event was attended by Bunda Literasi (mother of literacy) for Gunungkidul Hj. Diah Purwanti Sunaryanta, representative of the Head of Gunungkidul Secondary Educational Office Sri Wahyuni Dwiyanti, Head of Gunungkidul Cultural Department (Kundha Kabudaya) Chairul Agus Mantara, representative of Head of Yogyakarta Language Center Linda Chandra Ariyani, representative of the Head of Gunungkidul Library and Archives Office Arif Yahya, and Head of BCA Sub-branch Office in Wonosari Sani Bayuningrum.
Bakti BCA’s Semarak Literasi program was officially launched at SMAN 1 Karangmojo in Gunungkidul. The series of events included a Literacy Workshop for Students and Teachers, Literacy Competition, and concluded with the Grand Finale of Semarak Literasi. Embracing the spirit of #CanDoGeneration and targeting 1,500 participants, Semarak Literasi has been implemented in various regions, such as DKI Jakarta, Serang, Yogyakarta, and Lampung. Currently, the initiative is also ongoing in Jayapura, where BCA is distributing reading materials to support the literacy skills of the younger generation as part of this event.
On a separate ocassion, BCA VP of Corporate Social Responsibility Krisbiakto Cahyo Adi expressed, “BCA is dedicated to supporting the younger generation in improving their skills, including literacy. We recognize the importance of literacy and literature for students and the youth. As Language Month comes to a close, we anticipate that the Semarak Literasi program will positively contribute to supporting quality education, enhancing the literacy skills of students in Indonesia, and preserving Indonesian literature.”
In its implementation in several regions in Indonesia, this initiative not only contributes to quality education but also serves as a bridge connecting all parties in the collective effort to enhance the love and cultivate the interest of the younger generation to create and contribute to the development of literacy in Indonesia. This is expected to unfold in a lasting way. Semarak Literasi is one of BCA’s contributions to building a higher-quality educational ecosystem and opening opportunities for the younger generation to reach their full potential.
