In celebration of Tulungagung’s 818th Anniversary, BCA Extends a Gift by Facilitating Free Halal Certification for 100 MSMEs

Tulungagung, 8 November 2023 - As part of BCA’s commitment to empower Indonesian MSMEs, BCA, in collaboration with the East Java Micro Business Formal Transformation Guard (Transfumi), held a Halal Certificate Workshop for BCA-assisted MSMEs in Tulungagung. Through this workshop, MSMEs will receive training related to self-declared halal certification registration, enabling them to become independent in obtaining halal certification for their products.

The “Self-Declare Halal Certificate Registration Workshop for BCA-assisted MSMEs in Tulungagung” took place at the Barata Convention Center, attracting 100 MSMEs from Tulungagung. The event was attended by Tulungagung Acting Regent Heru Suseno, BCA Head of Region VII Hianni, and BCA SVP of Business Commercial & SME Tjoeng Haryanto on Wednesday (8/11).

BCA Head of Region VII Hianni explained, “BCA is consistently dedicated to enhancing the welfare of MSMEs in Indonesia. The halal certification workshop is designed to assist MSMEs in achieving greater self-reliance, improving the quality of their products, and increasing sales by promoting and boosting their revenue.”

BCA not only conducts workshops but also provides free incentives to MSME owners participating in these workshops. These incentives are designed to alleviate the burden for business owners seeking to develop their businesses by obtaining halal certification.

BCA has been consistently organizing workshops to assist MSMEs in obtaining halal certification. This year, BCA is reaffirming its commitment by extending similar assistance to MSMEs in various regions, including DKI Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, East Java, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), West Sumatra, and South Sulawesi, among others. This initiative is designed to support businesses in provinces where there is a demand for halal products.

Empowering MSMEs has always been an integral part of BCA’s journey. Data from the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs indicate that businesses experience an average increase of 8.5% in revenue after obtaining halal certification. In line with this, BCA is pushing for the accelerated halal certification of 1,000 MSMEs by the end of 2023, in accordance with the commitment established with the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs.

As of 30 September 2023, BCA has successfully disbursed MSME loans totaling Rp104.8 trillion, marking a YoY growth of 16.4%. BCA’s dedication to fostering MSME success in the country is demonstrated by the execution of BCA UMKM Fest 2023. This event, held both offline at Gandaria City, Jakarta, from 9 to 13 August, and online from 12 August to 13 September 2023, effectively reached 1,400 MSMEs.

BCA SVP of Business Commercial & SME Tjoeng Haryanto hopes that facilitating halal certification can have a positive impact on the quality of MSME products. “Halal certification is a crucial necessity for businesses in this country, considering Indonesia is the largest Muslim-majority country in the world. We hope our initiative can be a significant step in supporting the growth of MSMEs in Indonesia, especially in Tulungagung,” concluded Tjoeng.

As an informative note, the Ministry of Finance has stated that the halal economy has the potential to increase Indonesia’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by USD 5.1 billion annually through exports and investments, given the presence of 230 million Muslim residents in the country. Additionally, the global halal economy is anticipated to reach 4.96 trillion USD by the year 2030.
