BCA Committed to Consistently Protecting Customer Data


Jakarta, July 27, 2023 – Advances in technology have created opportunities for new types of fraud schemes. In recent days, there has been various information circulating on social media regarding BCA, including Rp0 fee for interbank transfer from BCA account to other bank accounts, a pop-virus warning on BCA mobile application, and a claim made by an unknown party saying that they have access to BCA financial system and customer data.

PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) stresses that Rp0 fee interbank transfer is UNTRUE.

With regard to information claimed as BCA data, after investigating it thoroughly, we can confirm that the data circulated on the internet is DIFFERENT from the data owned by BCA.

Furthermore, the myBCA website and mobile application can only be accessed by customers using their unique BCA ID and password, which are created and known only by the customers themselves. To perform financial transactions on the myBCA mobile application, customers are required to enter a PIN that is designed to be known ONLY to the user.

Meanwhile, to perform financial transactions on myBCA website, customers are also required to enter a One Time Password (OTP) from the KeyBCA token.

BCA would also like to stress that up until the time we are distributing this information, no single customer has suffered financial losses, amid the circulation of hoaxes and false claims made by irresponsible parties.

Regarding the pop-up virus warning appearing when customers access BCA Mobile, we can confirm that IT IS UNTRUE that BCA Mobile is affected by any virus. Instead, the warning is coming from the smartphone system upon detecting harmful applications being installed on the device.

That said, BCA urges loyal customers to always install official applications available on PlayStore, AppleStore, or AppGallery, and to regularly update their smartphone software. Installing applications from unofficial sources poses risks, as the device may get infected with viruses that could compromise data and activities, including customers' financial transactions.

BCA also advises loyal customers to be cautious of individuals impersonating BCA and various fraudulent schemes aimed at obtaining customer data. Customers should never share confidential banking information such as BCA ID, password, One Time Password (OTP), ATM card numbers, and Personal Identification Number (PIN) with anyone. Additionally, customers are encouraged to regularly change their PIN and password.

Moreover, BCA has consistently made various efforts to protect customers' data by implementing a range of layered security strategies and standards. These measures, combined with necessary risk mitigation techniques, ensure the safeguarding of customer data and digital transactions.

The entire digital security strategy and its implementation undergo regular evaluation and updates, taking into account the advancements in cybersecurity and digital transactions.
