BCA Gives Scholarships to Accomplished Students of Sriwijaya University

Palembang, 8 February 2019 – PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) continues to give its support for the development of education and improved human resources in Indonesia. This year, BCA once again gives scholarships to 16 public universities in Indonesia with a total value of 4.95 billion, where Sriwijaya University is one of its Bakti BCA Scholarship grantees.

The Bakti BCA Scholarships – worth Rp250 million – were symbolically submitted by Head of BCA Regional Office IV Daniel Hendarto to Deputy Rector III of Sriwijaya University Mohammad Zulkarnain in BCA Regional Office VI, Palembang, Friday (08/02).

Daniel said that as an institution that stands by its customers, BCA is always committed to support the development of education and improved human resources in Indonesia through its Bakti BCA Scholarships program. The Bakti BCA Scholarship itself was developed since 1999 and is intended for accomplished undergraduate students (bachelor degree) who have a demonstrated financial need. It is expected that the scholarships received by the students, including those of Sriwijaya University, can help improve their motivation to study and help them finish their education.

In 2018, BCA had distributed scholarships totalling at Rp4.95 Billion to 629 students at 16 public universities. Not only the material support that the Bank BCA provided, but it also actively helps equip the students with the necessary soft skills for higher level education and prior to entering the workforce. 

“BCA believes in the potential of these accomplished students and that they need to get the support to progress and develop. Especially in today’s volatile, fast-paced environment where the ability to adapt to change quickly while also facing intense competition is required. We hope that the Bakti BCA Scholarships can also contribute to the efforts to enhance competitiveness and the quality of human resources in Indonesia,” added Daniel.

The Bakti BCA Scholarship has entered  its 20 years and continues to evaluate the funds it has channelled throughout the years. In 2014, it was noted that the Bakti BCA Scholarship had allocated fund worth Rp3.8 Billion that were distributed to 16 public universities. The amount increased to Rp4.1 Billion in 2015, Rp4.25 billion in 2016 and Rp4.45 billion in 2017. As for the scholarship grantees for academic year 2014-2015 were 481 students, and 554 students for academic year 2015-2016, 587 students for academic year 2016-2017, 636 students for academic year 2017-2018, 629 students for academic year 2018-2019.

“In its implementation, BCA doesn’t only provide scholarships, but also provides, adds, and enhances soft skills of students through seminars and mentoring to prepare the Bakti BCA Scholarships’ grantees to enter the professional world,” Daniel concluded.
