Jakarta, October 1, 2021 – The “Learn from Home” policy which was implemented some time ago. In some schools, today it does not seem to be a barrier for students to make brilliant achievements. PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) together with PesonaEdu which held the National Literacy & Numeracy Competition some time ago also proved this. The competition has produced outstanding students who have proven that education is the most important thing even in the midst of a pandemic.
The competition ended some time ago and the winners were announced at a ceremony attended by BCA CSR EVP Inge Setiawati, Director of PesonaEdu Ira Anindita and Coordinator of the Question Maker Team, Dr. Sardianto M. Siahaan last Friday (01/10) virtually. This ceremony was also attended by the winners and other finalists who had participated in the competition.
“We are proud to see the achievements of the students from a lot of schools who are excited to take part in this competition, so there were 7,343 registrants when the competition was held. This proves that the pandemic is not a barrier to making achievements and prioritizing education. BCA as a close part of the community also gives appreciations to these outstanding students as an effort to spur their enthusiasm for learning," said Inge.
This Numerical Literacy Competition is fully held online based on a Computer Based Test (CBT) using the PesonaEdu A-Class platform. The questions tested in this competition are literacy and numeracy skills, which are not limited to certain subjects. The types of questions refer to the AKM (Minimum Competency Assessment) standard which is HOTS (High Order Thinking Skill), with varied types of questions including Complex Multiple Choices, Multiple Choices, Matching Answers, Video and Audio Responses, Essay Questions, and Virtual Practicum.
“This competition has succeeded in gathering 7,343 representatives from 20 provinces in Indonesia. 369 students have been selected to enter the final until eventually only 24 who go to the next round. This also shows the students’ enthusiasm in joining activities that support their educational progress,” said Ira.
BCA as one of the organizers also gave appreciations in the form of savings with a total of 114 millions to 24 winners from 6 competition categories. Inge added that this savings prize is not only a form of appreciation but also a provision for the winners’ journey to improve their skills in various fields.
BCA, whose a fostered school as a corporate social responsibility program, is also proud, because one of the students from the school won the first place in the 5th Grade Elementary School category. This proves that the fostered schools are also able to compete with other superior schools in Indonesia.
"We hope that a similar competition can be held again for a wider range of participants in order to encourage students to learn, although some are still done virtually. Hopefully this competition can also inspire other students who have not had the opportunity to take part in a similar competition. The winners are also expected to use the prizes which they get in the best possible way," concluded Inge.
