BCA Desa Wisata Award 2021 Entering Assessment Stage, BCA Consistent in Supporting Indonesian Tourism

Jakarta, 24 August 2021 – Economic recovery through tourism sector is one of the government’s programs made during the middle of COVID-19 pandemic. In accordance with this program, PT Bank Central Asia Tbk. (BCA) consistently work to realize such program by involving themselves in the development of tourism, particularly on the tourism villages in Indonesia. Through their Corporate Social Responsibily program, namely Bakti BCA, the company presents BCA Desa Wisata Award 2021 which is currently on its assessment stage.

The BCA Desa Wisata Award 2021 program was started on April, and it is currently on the assessment stage. For the final selection of the finalists of BCA Desa Wisata Award 2021, an assessment is currently being held by a panel which includes the Commissioner of BCA Cyrillus Harinowo, EVP of CSR of BCA Inge Setiawati, Observer, Expert & Deputy of Destination and Infrastructure Development 2020-2021 Hari Sungkari, Director of the Destination Management & Sustainable Tourism of the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy Indra Ni Tua, and the Head of Master Program of Sustainable Tourism of Padjadjaran University Dr. Evi Novianti, M.Si on Monday and Tuesday (23-24/08). All of the assessments are done virtually through Zoom.

“Tourism is one of the sectors that is currently affected by COVID-19 pandemic. Recovery efforts are continuously undertaken by both the government and private sector. As an inseparable part of society, BCA also contributes to this effort by holding BCA Wisata Award 2021. Through this event, BCA would like to support the tourism village in Indonesia to promote their potential, which allows them to be recognized by both domestic and international tourist,” Cyrillus Harinowo said.

This competition has been joined by more than 465 tourism villages all over Indonesia, which resulted in 20 finalists who are currently entering the assessment stage. BCA Desa Wisata Award 2021 divided its competition into four categories, namely Nature-Based Tourism Village, Culture-Based Tourism Village, Creative-Based Tourism Village, and Digital-Based Tourism Village categories. Since the beginning of selection until the current assessment process, all finalists have received a number of training, such as Communication and Leadership, Photography Technique using Smartphone, Social Media Branding, Indonesian Tourism Development, the Future of Tourism Village, Presentation Technique, and 4.0 Prime Service.

Inge Setiawati as the EVP of CSR of BCA said that, “This event is part of Bakti BCA program which support the continuity of quality tourism in Indonesia, especially in educating villages/communities in various region. It is not easy for us, the organizer, to select these tourism villages because we believe that all participants have their own potential,”

In this assessment stage, finalists shall be given an opportunity to perform a presentation related to the innovation or improvement that has been made by their village. Afterwards, the panel will have a Q&A session to select which participant that deserves to be chosen as the winner of the event. The organizer has already surveyed the location of the aforementioned 20 finalists before the assessment stage in order to verify the data given and to see the proof of actions taken by the finalists.

Additionally, through the Bakti Komunitas and Pilar Solusi Bisnis Unggul programs, BCA also supports the continuity of sustainable tourism in Indonesia. BCA continues to provide assistance to 12 assisted villages and the company also provides a range of training, including digital branding, tour guide, homestay standardization, benchmarking, and tourism package improvement. In order to support the program, BCA has prepared a total prize of IDR 600 Million as well as additional assistance for the winner of this competition.

“Hopefully all activities performed during BCA Desa Wisata Award 2021 will provide positive impact for all of its finalists. We hope that this assessment stage will give birth to a tourism village that could inspire and create a tourism potential with international standard,” said Inge.
