In the 2021 BCA Expoversary Online program, BCA holds numerous inspiring webinars for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs)
One of the webinars is "MSME Financing by Fintech in the Midst of Pandemic" where the participants are encouraged to be more aware when applying for financing. According to Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia data from May-June 2020, during the early phase of pandemic, there is an increase in the number of MSME actors who expand their business into online business.
The speaker of this webinar is Co-Founder & COO of Modalku Iwan Kurniawan. Iwan said the use of digital services in Indonesia has increased during the pandemic. “More consumers are using e-commerce services to buy daily necessities, which was previously unimaginable before Covid-19 era.” There are at least five big digital services that are often used during the pandemic, which are e-commerce, e-wallet, health, education, and transportation.
In developing MSMEs, BCA has provided several virtual mentoring such as this webinar. In addition, loan distribution for MSME actors will continue to be implemented, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. As of December 2020, BCA has disbursed loans with total of IDR 77.17 trillion to MSME actors.
Besides distributing credit and providing assistance to MSMEs, BCA has also collaborated with peer-to-peer lending (P2P) fintech, Modalku since 2019. This collaboration has helped BCA in providing easy access to loans to various MSME actors who are not yet unreachable to get the chance to grow.
The synergy of bank and fintech is a form of harmonious collaboration that is believed to be able to help the rising of MSMEs. The distribution of capital loans one of the most matter needed by MSMEs to fight against the pandemic. For that reason, it is necessary to accommodate this distribution through various adequate platforms. "Hopefully, with a webinar like this, we can help anyone who wants to start their business as well as open up new opportunities for fintechs who want to collaborate to support MSMEs. Hopefully in the 64th year, BCA can continue to provide comfort and convenience for all MSMEs in Indonesia," Petrus Karim concluded, Chief of the 2021 BCA Expoversary Online Committee.
