Jakarta, 17 November 2020 – As part of the national financial system, PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) is committed to continuously supporting the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) through various solutions. Not to be denied, the Covid-19 pandemic has pushed MSME players to set strategies to increase their business potential once more. As a form of support for MSMEs, this time BCA works in collaboration with one of peer-to-peer lending(P2P) fintech, namely PT Akseleran Keuangan Inklusif Indonesia or known as Akseleran.
Restoring the Indonesian economy is not only the responsibility of the government, but also industries, including the banks and fintech. The synergy between BCA and Akseleran has become an essential work amid the current uncertainty. The signing of MoU between BCA and was carried out on Thursday, 5 November 2020.
“The understanding of the shared values between BCA and Akseleran is the background for this collaborative effort. We will become an institutional lender and provide support and acquire financing for MSME borrowers under the auspices of Akseleran to recover the economy,” said Freddy Iman, Head of SME and Commercial Business Division of BCA.
Akseleran will be a bridge that connects MSME borrowers with BCA as venture capital lender through a channeling scheme. Starting this November, BCA has started the work with Akseleran with a productive limit of Rp30 billion for MSME whose businesses are thriving.
“We are optimistic that the collaboration with Akseleran can have a positive impact on the development of the MSME sector in Indonesia. Especially during the pandemic, the increasingly massive emergence of MSMEs certainly requires capital assistance,” Freddy concluded.
Mikhail Tambunan, Chief Financial Officer & Co-Founder of Akseleran, said that the partnership between Akseleran from the fintech P2P Lending and BCA from the banking sector not only creates stronger synergies between the two parties, but also to realize accelerated economic benefits through as many MSME business players in Indonesia as possible. Mikhail explained that until early November 2020, Akseleran had distributed a cumulative total business loan of more than Rp1.6 trillion and was supported by more than 150 thousand retail or individual lenders, who come from Aceh to Papua.
“In last October, Akseleran loan disbursement per month exceeded Rp11 billion and became the largest since 2017. The growth in business loan distribution is also in line with our efforts to consistently maintain loan quality, where currently Akseleran’s total NPL stands at 0.21% of the total business loans disbursed,” added Mikhail.
