BCA’s Commitment to Building Tourism Village Potentials in Indonesia

Jakarta, 1 September 2020 – PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) is committed to supporting the sustainable development goals and the implementation of sustainable finance. Through the Bakti BCA’s Superior Business Solution pillar, BCA strives to foster MSMEs and communities through assisted village empowerment. BCA implemented its commitment by supporting the sustainable development of assisted villages. BCA continues to support and contribute to the development of economic and tourism potentials of tourism villages so that they become self-sufficient villages and create jobs for nearby communities.

BCA’s contribution and support were thoroughly discussed in a virtual talk show, bearing the theme “The Challenges of New Era Tourism Villages and CSR in Building Tourism Potentials”. The talk show, which was broadcast live on TV Desa Indonesia, TV Desa Youtube channel, Kugo app, and Genflix Live, featured Executive Vice President CSR BCA Inge Setiawati virtually on Tuesday (01/09). Also joining the talk show was economists, socio-cultural experts, and CSR activists. The talk show was hosted by CEO & Founder of Miracelova Screen Institute, Arvin Miracelova.

“It is inevitable that the Covid-19 pandemic has created difficult challenges in various business sectors, including tourism and economy. For example, BCA, which has assisted villages in several regions in Indonesia, is facing challenges that are not easy. However, this is also an opportunity for us to rely on digitalization to provide value added to society. Despite the challenges, BCA continues its commitment to assist the 12 assisted tourism villages to move ahead in the midst of this dynamic situation,” explained Inge.

Tourism challenges in the new era must be aligned with the ability of the managers of assisted villages in order to be back in business. The coaching plays an important role in encouraging these Tourism Villages to welcome the new era. The training for the managers remains in force as is, but currently training is being conducted virtually and focuses on digital use as a means of promotion for tourism villages.

For information, BCA’s support for tourism villages through Superior Business Solution does not stop at donation for the local communities. The Bakti BCA’s support also begins with an in-depth analysis of the village to determine the direction of development; forming community management; formulating the vision, mission and targets for the assisted villages; developing human resource capacity; improving facilities and infrastructure; and service testing and impact measurement. These activities are carried out together cooperatively with local communities in hopes that they would become self-sufficient.

“In line with the development of tourist villages, we also educate the people that Indonesia is abundant in natural and cultural wealth that must be explored. For that, we are actively educating the community through various channels. We hope that in the new normal phase, which is slowly starting, it can help restore Indonesia’s tourism and economy, especially for tourism villages in Indonesia,” Inge concluded.
