Jakarta, 4 July 2026 – A debate among university students took place at Genera-Z Berbakti, a call-for-proposal program for student groups to carry out community service at tourism village locations sponsored by Bakti BCA. The moment could be witnessed in the final round, which brought together 8 finalists competing for 4 target partner villages. The debate among teams representing 8 different universities was presented before the panelists of Genera-Z Berbakti 2026, namely Nicholas Saputra, Cinta Laura Kiehl, and Tri Mumpuni.
The contestants' heated debate occurred during the Head-to-Head round, which required the finalists to exchange arguments, ask and answer questions, and defend their respective ideas while competing for their target village. The intensity of the debate and competition toward the destination village was felt firsthand by Ghifari, one of the representatives of the Mega Lestari team from Universitas Padjadjaran.
"My competitive spirit finally got triggered too, so I wanted to give my best. I was confident and happy to be able to do the head-to-head to test the strength of our proposal against the opposing team," said Ghifari.
In the Head-to-Head stage of the round competing for the Gunung Padang Site Tourism Village, Cianjur, Ghifari represented UNPAD against Miki, a student representative from IPB University. The two exchanged ideas and arguments in competing for their target Bakti BCA partner tourism village.
Similar to Ghifari, Miki claimed to be confident that the solution and argument he presented were the best. "I don't want to think too much about who my opponent is. Regarding the content of the argument, I am very confident that the solution our team formulated is the best choice and ready to be implemented," said this member of the Sabilulungan Lestari team.
Another testimony was given by Rifki, one of the representatives of the DESA HIDUP team from UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung. "Before going up, I told myself to be strong and show my best, to present what I truly wanted to present with a calm feeling, and of course to fight against the fear I had," said Rifki.
Uzi, representative of the Laskar Selasik team from Universitas Gadjah Mada who faced off against Rifki, also had his own story from the Head-to-Head round. He admitted to feeling tense at times, even though he knew the reason he was chosen to represent his team in that round. "I was chosen for this round because I have a habit of debating and giving opinions in small discussions. However, right now the atmosphere is very different," Uzi revealed.
Scientist and social entrepreneur Tri Mumpuni, one of the panelists, said that students must be able to convey their ideas and concepts in a coherent manner so they are easier for the public to understand. This is important so that these ideas and concepts don't stop at the level of mere concepts.
"Students must be able to convey ideas in a coherent, clear, and structured way, so that their concepts are easy to understand. After successfully understanding the root of the problem they want to solve, they must be able to critically formulate solutions until they become real work programs that can be implemented in the village," said Tri Mumpuni.
Through a series of tests from the panelists and debates among participants, the Genera-Z Berbakti finalists were invited to discuss and exchange ideas sharply, critically, and with a focus on the substance of the social innovation they proposed. A total of 4 out of 8 Genera-Z Berbakti finalists earned the opportunity to implement their ideas in 4 tourism villages under the Bakti BCA partnership program.
The four tourism villages are Terong Creative Tourism Village, Belitung Regency; Gunung Padang Site Tourism Village, Cianjur Regency; Patakbanteng Tourism Village, Wonosobo Regency; and Kakaskasen Dua Tourism Village, Tomohon City.
"BCA sees the enthusiasm and competitive spirit of the finalists at every stage of the program as a positive thing. It shows that they truly understand and believe in their respective ideas. We hope this spirit can continue to be maintained, especially later when implementing the program and collaborating with communities in the Bakti BCA partner tourism villages," said BCA's EVP of Corporate Communication & Social Responsibility, Hera F. Haryn.
