Bogor, 6 May 2025 – PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA), under Bakti BCA, in collaboration with the National Coffee Foundation (YKN) and the Bogor Regency Food Crops Horticulture & Plantation Office (Distanhorbun) launched the bumper harvest at Cikoneng Coffee Plantation, Tugu Utara Village, Bogor, Monday (5/5). In this bumper harvest, the farmers successfully produced higher-quality coffee beans compared to pre-revitalization Cikoneng Coffee Plantation, which was carried out with Bakti BCA in 2024.
According to data collected by Bakti BCA, the coffee production from farmers participating in the training program at Cikoneng Coffee Plantation as of April 2025 reached 47,640 kilograms. The amount increased 3.5 times compared to before the training was conducted, exceeding the initial target of 120 percent increase in production.
The bumper harvest was officially opened alongside the launch of the Cikoneng Coffee Plantation revitalization program for the 2025 period. The event was attended by Junior Expert Agricultural Extension Officer Reza Septian, EVP Corporate Communication & Social Responsibility BCA Hera F. Haryn, and Chairman of the National Coffee Foundation Litha Brent.
“BCA is honored to support the farmers at the Cikoneng Coffee Plantation to grow, and to successfully conduct a bumper harvest. The increase in coffee production in Cikoneng by more than 350 percent has certainly had an impact on increasing farmers’ income. With the support of YKN and Distanhorbun Bogor Regency, we are committed to continuing the revitalization of Cikoneng Coffee Plantation. This initiative is solely aimed to support farmers in managing and improving the quality of their coffee crops, which in turn boost the income and community welfare,” said BCA EVP Corporate Communication & Social Responsibility Hera F. Haryn.
The revitalization of the Cikoneng Coffee Plantation in Bogor was carried out on a 10-hectare area. In the first phase, farmers from the Cikoneng Lestari Farmers Group and Lestari Maju Bersama Farmers Group had the opportunity to participate in a Farmer Field School (Sekolah Lapang) organized by the Distanhorbun, and also received tools and farming supplies from Bakti BCA. Prior to the program, the farmers had an accumulated income of around Rp137 million from the coffee harvest each year. Now, their income has increased to more than Rp420 million.
The second phase of revitalization focuses on optimizing the growth of coffee cherry productivity, farmer capacity, soil fertility, and the production and quality of plantation products. Post-revitalization coffee production in the second phase is expected to reach 53,000 kilograms, and increase farmers’ income by approximately 60 percent.
Head of Bogor Food Crops, Horticulture & Plantation Office Entis Sutisna said, “We welcome BCA’s initiative to continue the revitalization of coffee plantations in Cikoneng, Bogor. It is essential for farmers to have access to knowledge about effective and efficient agricultural practices. We hope this partnership will not only improve the quantity and quality of harvests but also strengthen the competitiveness of local coffee and drive economic growth for both the local community and Bogor Regency as a whole.”
Indonesia is one of the largest coffee producing countries in the world, and has various types of coffee originating from various regions. Bogor Regency itself is one of the largest coffee producing areas in West Java. Bakti BCA’s initiative in Cikoneng reflects the company’s commitment to support local economic growth.
“Our highest appreciation goes to the farmers of the Cikoneng Coffee Plantation for their dedication and extraordinary enthusiasm throughout the revitalization process. We believe that strong collaboration between the private sector, government, and communities, as demonstrated in Cikoneng, is key to achieving sustainable growth. Let us continue working together to drive progress and promote equitable prosperity,” said Hera F. Haryn.
