“Gebyar BCA Merah Putih: Indonesia Banget," #BuktiBaktiBCA for Cultural Preservation and MSME Empowerment

Yogyakarta, 23 August 2024 – In celebration of Indonesia’s 79th Independence Day, PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA), through its Bakti BCA initiative, proudly presents an event titled “Gebyar BCA Merah Putih: Indonesia Banget!”. This event will take place from 22-24 August 2024, at the Prambanan Temple area, Yogyakarta. This celebration stands as a tangible demonstration of BCA’s commitment to preserving cultural values, empowering MSMEs, and fostering the growth of Indonesia’s creative industries.

For three days, visitors will be offered to a variety of activities rich in local wisdom and Indonesian cultural heritage. For example, this event will present Pasar Kangen, a pop-up traditional culinary market that delights visitors with authentic flavors. It will feature around 60 MSME tenants, including participants from Desa Bakti BCA and the Bangga Lokal BCA program. Visitors can enjoy Pasar Kangen at the Outdoor Plaza Trimurti from 22–24 August 2024.

As the grand finale, “Gebyar BCA Merah Putih: Indonesia Banget!” will culminate in a musical performance titled “Nusantara: Jiwa Surga Khatulistiwa” at the Ramayana Ballet Prambanan. This spectacular show will weave a tale inspired by Indonesian wayang legends, brought to life through captivating dances, songs, and traditional music from various regions.. Adding a special touch, the performance will feature Duta Bakti BCA Nicholas Saputra, Puteri Indonesia 2024 Harashta Haifa Zahra, and MALIQ & D’Essentials.

“Gebyar BCA Merah Putih is Bakti BCA initiative to celebrate Indonesia’s 79th Independence Day through a series of activities showcasing Indonesia’s cultural and culinary treasures. This event integrates three of Bakti BCA’s five pillars: Bakti Pendidikan (Education), Bakti Budaya (Culture), and Desa Bakti BCA (Village Empowerment). We hope this celebration not only deepens public appreciation for Indonesia’s culture but also creates a multiplier effect for artists, the creative industry, and local MSMEs,” said BCA Corporate Communication & Social Responsibility EVP Hera F. ‘Nusantara: Jiwa Surga Khatulistiwa’ Performance

“Nusantara: Jiwa Surga Khatulistiwa” is a musical performance, produced by Swargaloka studio. It will be held on 24 August 2024, at the Ramayana Ballet Prambanan. Featuring 120 talented performers—more than half of whom are youths from Bakti BCA studios and schools. These young talents came from across Indonesia, including Jakarta, Yogyakarta, Solo, Bali, and Banyuwangi.

“This performance reflects Bakti BCA’s commitment to encouraging Indonesian youth to embrace and cherish the nation’s cultural heritage. As future leaders, we hope they take pride in their authentic identity as citizens of an independent and culturally rich nation. We deeply appreciate the dedication and perseverance of the young performers, who have undergone nearly four months of rigorous training to deliver their best,” added Hera F. Haryn.

“Nusantara: Jiwa Surga Khatulistiwa” performance tells the journey of Dewi Supraba, sent by the Gods to save Kahyangan. Inspired by Indonesian wayang legends,, this production also serves as a representation of the natural beauty and cultural wealth of the archipelago (Nusantara), a paradise on the equator. This colossal musical drama incorporates a traditional Nusantara orchestra enhanced with modern technology for a captivating experience.

The director and scriptwriter of “Nusantara: Jiwa Surga Khatulistiwa” musical performance, Irwan Riyadi shared, “Bakti BCA has long supported Swargaloka in hosting cultural performances. We greatly appreciate BCA’s contributions to preserving Indonesian culture by promoting and showcasing our cultural expressions. To engage the younger generation, we present legendary tales with a contemporary twist, utilizing technology without losing our cultural roots. For us, traditions never die, they grow alongside civilization. Thus, new interpretations are crucial for our cultural works to move forward.”

Pasar Kangen

Pasar Kangen is an annual event held since 2007 in Yogyakarta. It offers a nostalgic atmosphere filled with traditional Indonesian culinary delights and local crafts. Sharing a mutual devotion for local traditions, Bakti BCA has collaborated with Pasar Kangen to enliven the “Gebyar BCA Merah Putih: Indonesia Banget!”.

Pasar Kangen will present over 60 MSME booths offering delicacies like es goyang, wedang ronde, kerak telor, sate koyor from Lumajang, dawet ireng, and selendang mayang. It will also feature MSMEs from Bakti BCA and BCA Bangga Lokal programs, such as Doesoen Kopi Sirap’s coffee truck, Desa Wukirsari’s wayang art, Djoe Hoa soy sauce, Bakti BCA School products, and Batik from Kampoeng Batik Gemah Sumilir and Desa Wisata Sijunjung. Bangga Lokal participants will also present standout products, including Agung Ngoro, Bakpiaku, Getook, and Dagadu Djokdja.

Founder of Pasar Kangen, Ong Hari Wahyu remarked, “BCA shares our mission of creating sustainable positive impacts, especially for local MSMEs. Interesting surprises series from BCA are also ready to welcome visitors at Pasar Kangen. BCA customers are able to enjoy exciting promotions, such as 30% cashback (up to Rp 15,000) for minimum transactions of Rp 50,000. This promo is valid for payments with QRIS on myBCA, BCA mobile, or Sakuku with a promo quota of the first 200 transactions/day. These promotions are available exclusively at Pasar Kangen tenants during 22–24 August 2024. To redeem, visitors must exchange proof of transaction at the BCA redeem booth on the same day. Additional attractive offers from BCA Bangga Lokal tenants, including 10% discount and clearance sale at Dagadu, as well as a special price of 5 bakpia for Rp17 thousand from Bakpiaku and various other promos.

Beyond savoring traditional delicacies, visitors at Pasar Kangen can enjoy captivating musical performances blending contemporary elements with Indonesia’s rich cultural heritage, featuring acts such as Jogja Hip Hop Foundation, Angklung Malioboro, and Ririn Sinden Gemoy. Pasar Kangen will also host a variety of Independence Day-themed competitions, inviting everyone to join in the joy and togetherness that define this celebration. All these activities can be enjoyed at the Pasar Kangen mini stage.
