Medan, 19 September 2024 - As a concrete demonstration of BCA's support for the advancement of Indonesian MSMEs, PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) continued the MSME Halal Certification Workshop 2024 program. A total of 92 MSME players participated in the program held in Medan, on Wednesday (18/9).
BCA EVP Corporate Communication and Social Responsibility Hera F. Haryn said, “Seeing the positive impact of halal certification on the improvement and sustainability of MSME businesses, BCA is continuing the 2024 MSME Halal Certification Workshop program to other regions including Medan. Through this program, BCA provides direct opportunities for MSMEs to understand the halal certification process using the self-declaration method while providing education on the importance of halal standards in improving product quality.”
BCA Halal Certification workshops have been held in 18 regions including Makassar, Bali, Jakarta, Samarinda, Depok, Surabaya, Madiun, Pontianak, Bukittinggi, Magelang, Bogor and will continue in various cities in Indonesia. The spread of these workshops is a testament to BCA's commitment to helping small and medium enterprises meet halal standards, thereby expanding their market reach and increasing consumer trust.
According to a survey by the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs, the average turnover of businesses increased by 8.5% after obtaining a halal certificate. This is due to the high interest of Indonesians in halal-certified products. With this in mind, BCA is committed to continuing the halal certification program for MSMEs.
BCA provides support for payment of halal certification fees for MSME players, and other attractive offers such as online account opening, online BCA credit card creation, activation of payment methods via QRIS, as well as business financing facilities (KUR) and other consumptive products.
From May to August 2024, BCA has conducted halal certificate workshops that have been attended by more than 1,800 MSME players in several cities in Indonesia. BCA is targeting to issue 2,000 halal certificates to 2,000 MSMEs across Indonesia this year. To date, around 1,300 participants in BCA's halal certification workshop program have successfully issued halal certificates.
BCA's support for MSMEs is also reflected in SME lending, which grew 12.7% YoY to reach Rp114.4 trillion as of June 2024. In order to continue encouraging lending to this sector, BCA provides promotional lending rates for commercial and MSME debtors engaged in Environmentally Friendly Business Activities (KUBL).
“We hope that the 2024 MSME Halal Certification Workshop can have a significant positive impact on MSMEs in Medan and throughout Indonesia. We aim to not only provide understanding about halal certification, but also assist small and medium enterprises in meeting halal standards and obtaining halal certificates,” concluded Hera.
