From Bengkulu to West Papua, BCA Announces Four New Fostered Schools in Bakti BCA Program

Sorong, 19 July 2024 – PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) will be supporting four new schools under the Bakti BCA program, reinforcing BCA's commitment to improving the quality of education in Indonesia. The inauguration of the four Bakti BCA Schools began with a kick-off workshop and coaching at State Elementary School (SDN) 35 Sorong City, West Papua, which will then continue at SD Inpres (SDI) Nunumeu, Soe City, East Nusa Tenggara, State Senior High School (SMAN) 3 Penajam Paser Utara, and SDN 61 Bengkulu City.

Bakti BCA Schools program is designed to support the empowerment of individuals through quality education in various parts of Indonesia. The initiative includes school leadership development, teacher capacity building, and student empowerment, as well as the provision of facilities and infrastructure to support quality learning. At the elementary level, the initiative will focus on character development and science literacy. Meanwhile, at the high school level, there will be an additional focus on digital literacy.

Based on this vision, Bakti BCA Schools will provide comprehensive training for teachers and students in the process, such as Character-Based Classroom Management Workshop, Character Development Innovation Program Workshop, and Student Potential Development Coaching. The series of activities will be carried out over a period of 6 months from July to December 2024, which will end with the Gebyar Karya Festival & Parenting Seminar.

BCA Corporate Communication & Social Responsibility EVP Hera F. Haryn said, “The Bakti BCA Schools are also expected to serve as model institutions in character strengthening and scientific literacy. The addition of Bakti BCA fostered schools is tangible evidence of our commitment to continually benefitting the broader community. We believe that with holistic support for schools, teachers, and students, Bakti BCA Schools can create a sustainable positive impact that inspires and empowers future generations and their surrounding communities. ”

Bakti BCA Schools evaluation is based on a holistic assessment and study, including consideration of teaching resources, school commitment and support from the local education office. For example, SDN 35 Kota Sorong was selected based on several criteria, namely, the number of civil servant (ASN) teachers is at least 12 people, the total number of teachers aged 45 years is 50%, meets the pre-survey criteria, and has a strong commitment to growth and development.

As of 2023, BCA has supported 20 Bakti BCA Schools at the primary, junior and senior high school levels. BCA has also organized training for more than 275 school principals to develop innovative leadership skills and strengthen the capacity of school principals. In addition, BCA organized learning innovation training for 65 teachers and 15 school management to create a more interactive and creative learning environment.

At the end of April 2023, BCA announced 17 Bakti BCA Schools that were considered ready to be self-sufficient as they have proven to improve their quality. Based on the Bakti BCA Evaluation, in accordance with the National Assessment Indicators, 17 Bakti BCA Schools have achieved scores above and even exceeded the national average in both aspects of literacy, numeracy, character and quality of learning. Meanwhile, BCA is still providing ongoing support to three Bakti BCA Schools in Banyuwangi, namely SDN 1 Taman Sari, SMPN 1 Licin and SMAN 3 Wongsorejo.

"With the presence of 4 new schools in the Bakti BCA program, BCA hopes to reach more students in different regions of Indonesia and have a significant positive impact on education. In the future, BCA will continue to support the improvement of the quality of education in Indonesia through various sustainable programs and initiatives. We believe that quality education is the key to creating a better future for the people of Indonesia," concluded Hera F. Haryn.

BCA believes that improving the quality of education in Indonesia requires support from various parties. BCA always supports government programs and collaborates with various parties, including academics and the community. This collaboration aims to ensure the success of Bakti BCA Schools program and to achieve the common goal of improving the quality of education in Indonesia.
