Semarang, 13 May 2020 – As the bank of the people, PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA)’s consistency was once again manifested in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, which is currently widespread throughout the nation. After handing over aid of PPE and medical masks in Sumatera and other parts of Indonesia a while ago, this time BCA provided PPE assistance to Central Java and Yogyakarta. The assistance was consisted of surgical masks, regular masks, surgical gowns and coveralls, medical equipments to a number of hospitals as well as staple food package and hygiene kits for the local and artist community in Central Java and Yogyakarta, worth more than Rp380 million.
The aid was handed over symbolically by the Head of BCA Regional Office II Gunawan Prayogo to the Director of Medical, Nursing and Support dr. Agoes Oerip Poerwoko, SpOG(K), MARS and Director of Organizational and General Planning drg Sri Yuniarti Rahayu, SpKG, MARS at RSUP Dr Kariadi on 13 May 2020. Other medical support equipments was distributed in stages to a number of hospitals, including RS Sardjito, RS Panti Rapih Yogyakarta, RS Katolik Jateng, through the Central Java Diocese, RSUD K.R.M.T. Wongsonegoro Semarang, RSUD Wates Yogyakarta, RSI Banjarnegara, RSUD Dr Tjiptowardojo Purworejo, RSUD Djoyonegoro Temanggung, FKKMK UGM Children Health’s Installation of RSUP Dr Sardjito Yogyakarta and the local government in Pekalongan. On the same occasion, staple food packages and hygiene kits were distributed to the artist community in Central Java and Yogyakarta under the auspices of Sang Pamarta Indonesia Foundation, a number of operators of the Bakti BCA’s assisted villages and the local community around the BCA Regional Office II that is affected financially by the pandemic.
“The recovery and revival of the Indonesian people amid the Covid-19 pandemic becomes a major pursuit in and of itself. BCA, as the bank of the people, unequivocally wants to participate in realizing that. Therefore, we took the initiative to reinvigorate the people of Central Java and Yogyakarta by distributing aid of medical equipments to a number of hospitals, and staple food packages and hygiene kits,” explained Gunawan.
Since last March, BCA has consistently provided donation to parties in need in the handling of Covid-19, which was consisted of medical equipments and ventilators to a number of hospitals and staple food packages for the people. To date, BCA has donated almost Rp18 billion for Covid-19 mitigation measures in Indonesia.
EVP CSR of BCA Inge Setiawati added that BCA will continuously assist the government, the medical team, and the community during the Covid-19 pandemic. “We will distribute aid in stages to several affected areas in Indonesia. It will certainly be tailored to the needs of the parties receiving it to ensure that the assistance is appropriate and beneficial for them,” Inge concluded.
